The last time I took them out I noticed that they have a decent amount of wrinkle paint even on the gasket mating surfaces, then I knew why I have seen so many of them leaking. I took a nice 12" fine mill bastard file to them and filed the paint on the sealing surfaces right down to the bare aluminum. They came out smooth as glass. Now there are no leaks anymore.

If you use a non hardning sealant like Gasgasinch or Halomar it wont leak either.

All stock..no leaks here.
Even used the same gasket in three removals (so far).

Just keep'em clean, dry, and straight.

Interesting, I'll take a look at mine!

I just keep reusing the gaskets with liberal RTV smeared on both sides.

Clutch cover gasket I have reused many times with no problems, just completely dry them before install. The primary chain cover gasket, did leak a little when I reused it once.
