"Anyway. I live in the United States of America and we have the freedom of speech. I have the right to..." And he has the right to express his opinion as well. Remember, that's all he really did.

I said that.

"Sorry for the rant but I'm so sick of people whining about such insignificant things." You mean like someone expressing his opinion? I agree.

But my post got deleted...Apparently not everyone has their freedoms. What good is posting your complaints if I can't post what you're complaining about?

"If it offends you dont read it" I agree with this sentiment as well. And you don't have to read someone's opinion.

As I said, I'm glad he can post his opinion. I don't want to be the only one with freedom of speech.

After all, what good are convictions if you don't share them??

I agree. Bottom line is if anybody has the right to complain and be offended then anybody should have the right to post the offensive material.

Good God...all this over some stickers?

I should snap a shot of my dad's helmet. Some highly offensive material there...

<--- My .02, well I can see both sides of the argument here. I personally have some pretty off-color stickers on my toolbox at home, but I have to be careful what I display on my box at work out of respect my co-workers and the occaisional customer that comes into the plant. What I'm saying is there's a proper place for almost everything, and while I can put up whatever I damn well please in my own space, I try to be considerate of others when in the public eye. And while I agree that some people take censorship too far, some of the stuff I find amusing as an adult I might not want my son or daughter to view. All I'm saying is, can't we all just get along and ride????

Zatco,
You spelled it wrong. Need to spell it as it appears in the bible.

Isa 32:12 They shall lament for the teats, for the pleasant fields, for the fruitful vine.
Eze 23:3 And they committed whoredoms in Egypt; they committed whoredoms in their youth: there were their breasts pressed, and there they bruised the teats of their virginity.
Eze 23:21 Thus thou calledst to remembrance the lewdness of thy youth, in bruising thy teats by the Egyptians for the paps of thy youth.

OH uh wait. He was from Canada......They have a law against some of the stuff in that book.

Lets take it to the backfire and I'll finnish this post there..........

Thats understandable. I believe you have to consider the format. I look at a forum for motorcycle enthusiasts the same as I look at hanging out with guys on bike night at the local dealership/cruise spot or at a bike show or something of that nature. If something's acceptable there why isn't it here? I find it hard to believe that if someone found a sticker offensive here and seen the same sticker in a situation mentioned above that unnamed person would find it necessary to make sure that everyone in attendance knows that he/she is offended. It is more likely that they would just look away.

Thanks Andy, but don't get drawn into a flame thing. That goes against the whole peace, love and understanding thing. There's a bunch of really good people on this forum.

Seeing as you asked, I'm an hourly welder for a large heavy machinery manufacturer that recently said they don't want their employees identifying the company. Three days of the week, I'm on the floor. Two days, I do Human Rights duties.

The basic difference in our constitutions is that US has free speech and we have constitutional protection for the other senses as well.

The fun comes when two constitutional rights come into conflict. That's where I come in at the work level.

At work, I have to ask that these kinds of stickers are removed. Most people understand. And if they don't, the sticker would still have to be removed.

Blacklightning: Please, force me to look at titties.
In Canada, a woman's right to not wear a top overrules a person's right not to see her topless. Welcome to Canada, don't get your hopes up. It's not as common as you'd like.

Zatco81: Bottom line is if anybody has the right to complain and be offended then anybody should have the right to post the offensive material.
Does this make sense to anybody else? There's no resolve.

Firebolt: Good God...all this over some stickers?
Could be worse. I have to deal with a guy who got a (trust me, nothing like anything here) offensive tattoo on his forearm. Many complaints. Cover it up or get fired.

My bottom line:
XBoard Buell Forum for all Buell XB model motorcycle general (non-technical) discussion.
vs.
Backfire Board Beware all ye who enter here.

There's a line there somewhere.

This could get to be fun, especially if you share what you're smoking, but we should get back to stickers.

Whatever...my sticker was deemed offensive by a couple of people and acceptable by more than a couple people but it was removed. The complainers win again. Guess I'm fired. Creativity, freedom of expression, and individualism limited again by what's acceptable and what's not to a select few.

Don't misunderstand, these laws only apply in certain settings like work, restaurants, etc. His might not be allowed in those places either.

BTW my son-in-law is an established tattooist, well-inked, and my daughter has more ink and piercings than I want to know. (Son-in-law says no reputable inker would have done that tattoo on that other guy.)}

I assume the tattoo in question is not offensive to him or the people he normally associates with. I curious about who at your company decides what is offensive. Unless it promotes hatred or violence towards an identifiable group you cannot insist he cover it or fire him. Well you can, but I would think your company would end up paying him rather well for his troubles when he contacts a lawyer

Might as well move it unless anybody has any rainbow stickers they'd like to share...oh wait...that may open another can of worms.

This thread is probably gonna suck now. There were some good stickers on here before it went "PG." Oh well.

Remember Pete, he's in Canada eh?

Oh...so are you, nevermind.

Trust me on this, it's offensiveness.
Peace, love and understanding... or else. Yes, after several discussions, he was told, for the sake of the many other workers, he could be fired. The union would defend the other workers in this. He called his lawyer. His lawyer told him to cover up. Things have calmed down since, and that's good. Part of my job is protecting his bread and butter too.

Can we get back to stickers?

None of this is a freedom of speech issue. The constitution guarantees you freedom of speech, but not in an environment under private control (internet forums, work place, etc.) Bottom line is that a moderator of the forum reviewed the complaint and found something unsuitable for this forum. If it were my biker forum I would have left it, but I have no say in this forum.

No go exercise your first amendment rights and display your stickers in public where they belong, goin' down the road!

Can't we all just get a long? XB12Ss that is!

I haven't questioned the authority of the moderators. If I had a question about any of this, It would be concerning why it did not go to the backfire. If you notice though I have not asked that question either. I want to post a sticker but am quite sure at this point, mine would be deleted. So, the only question or point I would make at this time would be, What's the point?.

Since I'm obviously not a good judge can somebody tell me if this is offensive or not? The "other toy" (who has breasts) says no but I just want to be sure.
