License, reg & proof of ins
cell phone
cash & plastic
compact tire pump
AAA and/or AMA card
water

No more side-of-the-road repairs for me. Now I call for a truck, or enjoy a warm bottle of water while waiting to flag down a passing motorist.

I have two travel modes:

Local - less than 50 miles from home. Basically only I carry basic stuff on my super suit.

Distant - Tank bag comes along.

I figured this was a prime opportunity to clean out my tank bag. While doing so I took a picture of its contents.

My bike is already wired with a USB port, so power for toys is not an issue.

I would consider the air compressor, fuses, and the flashlight to be most important.

Damn, if I would have known I needed all that stuff, I would have never taken those cross country trips.

if it doesnt fit in my pockets it doesnt go with me. cell phone, wallet (with cash and plastic) and the factory tool kit with some zip ties stuffed in it. if i had to carry all that crap i'd quit riding.

Someone mentioned putting a $100 bill under his battery. I wanna know where your bike is parked : D LOL. I am wiring up a charger for my iPhone into my S2 to run up to my RAM mount, so that takes care of most of my needs. I too let my phone do most of the "side of the road" wrenching, though I've considered taking a small generator and welder with me after my force exhaust split in half from my last trip. Here's my list of things currently in the fairing bags of my S2:
-$.88 set of Allen head wrenches from Wal Mart, with one extra that has been cut down to fit the mirrors and other parts (my S2 is mostly Allen head instead of the later Torx head, tank God. Torx are expensive!).
-Small adjustible end wrench
-pair of pliers
-Phillips screwdriver (to take off the bodywork)

Things I'll add before my next trip:
-tire plug kit
-$20 bill
-small headphones (in case I forget my standard set for my iPhone)
-spare battery cable (snapped two in the last 3K miles)
-Bayer
-socks in a ziplock
