Maybe a dumb question but, I bought my 2006 xb9sx and it came with the jardine muffler. It says it is the rt one exhaust. How can I tell if it is aluminum or titanium?

aluminium is soft, take a blade and see if an edge where it isnt visible is easy to dig into.and i thought titanium has a peculiar color .my rt 1 is aluminium.too freaking loud for me though....considering my options.flowmaster or some kind of muffler.the loudness is a pain to me, dont like it at all.

I was thinking it was aluminum. The first few times I took it out i thought it was too loud. Now I don't and I like it. Have I sustained some hearing loss? I was thinking of getting the quiet insert, is it a waste of money?

I bought the newer quiet module insert for my rt-1. It made the sound tolerable. It's still loud but not nearly as much ringing in the ears as before.

Titanium is darker, not polished.

Doesn't the titanium turn blue?

Titanium turns blue but I don't think there is enough heat on the outside of the can to make it change.
