NOT for me, but i guess it is a unique idea, to make your bike thats supposed to be different than the rest, just like the rest, which in turn makes your bike different from the bike thats already different. haha Got it?

Perhaps you forgot to consider the fact that the rider desired more ground clearance? Take a look at the Buell dirt bike, and tell me where the pipe is.

I find the total lack of useful gauges on the XB to be stupid, so I fixed it. If you don't like something on someone else's bike, you don't need to criticize them for it. This is a free county, and you can modify your machine however you want as your wallet allows.

It does appear to be a well thought out and cleanly executed mod...I'm betting on the desire for better ground clearance...I have whacked my muffler on speed humps, and wish it had more clearance.

duals!!! awsome lol.

personally, i like that most people mod their bikes to suit their liking, parking lots would be boring otherwise.

I agree with Ozzie because they've ruined the concept but I also agree with Glen because I like that it is different....

The first sport bike I can remember ever loving was the 1994 Duc 748. The under tail exhaust was one of the reason. I think the cans look good and actually flow pretty well but the pipes running on the outside of the swing arm is what I dont like. It bulges that section of that bike which kills the flow. Also the diff in header color and lower color dont even closely match.

erik went all out on the xb's
no idea how the next gen will go, unless the entire line moves to rotax engines.sure we can and do make small improvements but he hit this right on the head.put the key in and go--dont try to out think him.
he has literally been there and done that.i like that he is alive in out lifetime.

I'd love to see some 1098 numbers out of the next gen....or at least matching the Big 4's literbikes. Combine that with Buell handling and we'd be golden. Not that were not golden now of course, just suggesting: )

Why? So they can be raced against Ninja 250's in some new DMG race segment?

no way glen
i bet the use/rider mod that is really groundbreaking, better than stock is likely 1 in 10,000.
that means most stuff is not really such a big deal.

and compare the XB's with any 2 wheeled machine.most is 30's-40's50's tech
and the world we live in..is the hey look at me generation....

I'm most likely going to join the high muffler crowd also, I'm most likely going to do the same thing....to my XB12R and my 1125CR.
I don't like the heat from the muffler heating the oil or the bottom of the crank case.

I'll probably do a single on the XB and a duel like above on the 1125.

Whoever did that did a nice job.

Mike

Do you know how hot the muffler gets? I took some temperature samples on my bike, and the muffler was the coldest part of the exhaust system.

I really don't care how people mod their bikes. From a function standpoint there seems to be:
--Weight disadvantage
--CG disadvantage
--No possibility of a passenger
--More than likely, reduced power.
--The pipe looks too close to the swingarm and belt guard. I don't think extra heat is good for the belt.
--If you were taking a corner with your feet in the correct position (toes on pegs), it looks like you would melt your boots.

to each his own is all im sayin Pogue, i can see your point, hell, i would've never purchased my XB if i werent somwhat impressed with its design.
however,
after buying my bike and spending some time on it,i can understand the urge to mod a few things, the rusty muffler that you can only clean on one side being one.

...also, that looks like a total hack job or it's not real. The right exhaust is touching plastic. The left exhaust is way lower than the right. You would probably need to remove the right exhaust to change the tire.

I'll give it a 3 out of 10.

Excellent fab job- you can see where the pipe has mounts to connect to the stock hanger points under the engine, and how it is hung from the passenger peg mounts. There is very close tolerance around the pulley and swingarm, and because it appears to have carbon cans there's no heat issue with the rear bodywork. A lot of thought and skill went into that system- got to give credit when it's due.

I think that's the angle making look that way.

Yes. Who ever did the work should be congratulated for their fabrication skills- they obviously have talent.

I am not, however, expressing an opinion on the merits of a high-mount undertail exhaust on a Buell. The fact is that the exhaust in the picture is well thought-out, executed professionally, and appears to be very high-quality. I'm impressed with the craftsmanship.
