just some fyi on bars.
was told my the guy i purchased from,it had renthal bars.i bent mine a few weeks back, and got new ones and the parts guy took one look and knew exactly what i had.
renthal road bike low 754-01-bk
honestly,i cant compare to the OEM bars for an xb9s but i am 6-0/6-1 and have short legs and long torso.
fit feels really good, neutral, comfy.i only lean forward 1-2 inches, hand positions and reach all are perfect for my old decrepid butt!!
they were 64.99 at my local shop.

Didnt realize how cheap bars were!

I really like the position of my XB12Ss around town and on the freeway its pretty good as well, nice and upright but just a little forward lean. I dont want to replicate my old replica racer but I feel like I could probably use a different position in the twisties, which is where I spend 95 percent of my riding.

At $65's its worth the trouble of swapping everything over and if I dont like it I am sure I can make most of the money back, or trade with somebody for a different Renthal bar.

Hmm...

Comparison of any bars to the Ss stock?

I am 5'10", average torso.

I meant comparison of the renthal sizes to stock bars, obviously you have never had stock bars or an Ss : p.

Just looked on American Sport Bike, says the medium are a good replacement for the Uly and look to be about the same size in the pictures.

Low's (yours) also say good replacement for the uly but are (as seen in the pictures) a bit lower.

Then the ultra lows are described as a good replacement for the Ss for a sportier position but I wonder how low it is. I wouldnt mind a slight increase in how sporty they are but dont want to go back to full super sport forward lean, as the OEM bars are amazingly comfortable for longer rides. Havent done much over 4-5 hours but I can tell its leaps and bounds better then the super sport was.

I do feel though when I start to ride more aggressive like my hands get a little bunched up (elbows are very bent) almost like I am getting into a racier position but the bars are a bit to high and awkward for it to work out well.

Any input for any Ss guys running the ultra lows?

As I said, at $65's I think its worth a shot.

Thats about the same price as new OEM bars. For what its worth, all XB Lightning variants are the same height with the bars, only the Uly and Blast are higher. The Firebolt is lower, buts its not as easy to swap as the other bars.

I have heard nothing but good things about the Renthal bars, but I couldn't tell you how which bar relates to the OEM bars.

Sweet, I have heard that some pro taper azonics, carmichaels etc... are nice because they have lots of leverage. Seem like a very flat track style bar. I like the idea of leverage, but the Renthals also a dirt inspired bar, no? And I know many people cut them so maybe its the same idea (longer, more leverage).

More leverage, still comfortable and slightly more forward would be my goal.

I want to go forward but I dont want to get to the point where I have to work noticably to keep weight off my wrists. I love how on the Ss compared to my old race replica, I can relax my knees and just ride. The R6 I would always be squeezing my legs together and they would slip on the tank (never got to installing stomp grips) and it would start to fatigue my arms etc... Yeah I could get used to it but I dont need to be that far forward, dont need the aerodynamics so I'd rather just take the most comfortable setup.

Again though at $65's all you lose if it doesnt work is time and a few bucks to sell used and buy something new if it doesnt work out. You also get some knowledge about bar positions and the fun of installing a new part and trying it out (motorcycles would be boring if you bought it off the showroom with every mod you'd ever do to it).

Just need to decide Renthal or Azonic style dirt bike bar...

I have the renthal ultra lows and i really like the riding position i get. I am 6'3" with short legs and a really long torso. The stock height was just too high for my tastes. I can still ride a good four or five hours straight with no strain on my wrists whatsoever

Wardamneagle,

Do you have some pics you'd mind sharing? I'd really like to see how they look. Handlebars are my next "upgrade" I'm in the same sort of boat you guys are in, 6'1 need a little lean.

My daily commute consists of 30 mins give or take of twisties eventually hitting traffic.

I sit in traffic for about 10-15 mins everyday 1 way. Do you think they'll be uncomfortable?

Anybody know the difference between the Carmichael Pro Tapers and the Renthal Ultra Lows?

I am going with one of those, leaning way towards pro tapers as they come in black and I think the polished Renthals would look a little silly on my blacked out 2009 (red).
