The Check engine light is permanently illuminated on my XB. However, there are no fault codes and it wont clear when the Digital Technician tries to clear them. Runs OK otherwise Any Thoughts? Mark | ||

maybe the wire on the light has grounded itself. | ||

Actually I thought Phil’s fan line was pretty funny. I’m just going to ignore the warning lamp. Besides, I have my eyes closed most of the time anyway!!  119. | ||

sorry english, couldnt resist. what ecm are you running? pin 4 on the black ecm plug activates the MIL light. if it illuminates with the plug out, then you have a wire rubbed/grounding. if the ecm wont let go of trouble light, replace it, if you have the race ecm, sub the stocker in, if you have the stocker, you know you always wanted to try the ravce ecm, now you have a good reason to get one. good luck, dean | ||

ok, i just checked you profile, see that you have race ecm, and that your an engineer. so why am i giving you advice? your the EE. still good luck, now build us all a tps reset box for 45 dollars.later, dean | ||

Thanks Dean. Actually I was just being lazy – hoping someone may have seen the same problem....."and all you need to do is hit X with a hammer....." I’ve a new ECM to fit so it may just go away then. The wiring on my XB is really tight. I’ve had instances of blown fuses which went away when I cut and re-made most of the tie-wrap connections. Thanks Mark | ||

Just a thought. By all means, there are several other things that could cause this; but we had the same problem. It turned out to be the rear engine temp. sensor. It went bad within 1000 mi. Closer to 500. Once it was replaced, the light went out and all funniness with the bike disappeared. Just a thought. You might check it. Charles | ||

My enging temp sensor also went bad after only 12 miles from new. However, that caused the ECU to think it was running perminently cold and basically choked the motor after a few minutes of running. As I say, the bike runs OK, just that the lamp pops up after the necessary 8 seconds after start-up and stays on - No fault codes. Mark | ||

I had the same prob. My bike would die after a while. I'd pull over, wait a few minutes, and voilla. She'd run again, for a while... Man was I glad when it was fixed. FP: As I remember, yes, the dealer could tell it was the sensor from the code. Charles |
