Bubba or Dave may be able to answer this question for me.

If I purchased a Buell from Dealer A is there any requirement for me to have the bike serviced at the same dealer.

Thanks

Adrian.

The answer might be more complicated. Did you get any special financing by agreeing to a service contract with the dealer? If you did you might have to use that dealer. But if you just used normal financing then you can take it to any dealer you want or better yet do it yourself.

As long as you didn't do a scheduled maintenance plan you can take it to any dealer you want.
There is a difference between a maintenance plan and an ESP(extended service plan) extended warranty.
The ESP will be honored at all Buell dealers if it is the HD/Buell ESP.
Maintenance plans are in dealership items and would only be good at that dealer.

Call me if you have additional questions about the difference.

There have been a few cases of certain dealerships being less than enthusiastic to service bikes purchased elsewhere in some instances. Beyond that see above.

Thanks guys,

I dont have any extended plan of any sort, the dealer I bought it from no longer sell Buell .

I will be looking for a dealer in the NYC / CT area, I have some good reports about Danbury Buell , any recommendations would be gladly received.

If they just dropped the Buell line have you checked if they'll still service Buells?
Just curious.

I can't believe a dealer would be dumb enough to drop Buell now. They now have the best bikes they have ever built. Just doesn't make any sense to me. But they have never convinced me of the "Buells just don't sell here" mentality either.
Buells sell EVERYWHERE if done properly. Right Bubba?

Buells sell here just fine, thank you!

They told me they were dropping Buell because they didnt sell enough and they would be able to free up the floorspace for more HDs.

I am pretty sure they have some Buell techs , but in line with a lot of the sentiments reflected on this site, I would want any servicing done by people who are interested in the bikes or who ride them as well.

I have seen too many comments on this site about non-Buell dealers and the attitudes of their staff.

I would like to find a dealer like the fat man to service the bike.

I was just at my local dealer this afternoon to show them my stack (of course). I had a long talk with the only sales guy there that is into Buells. He told me that he sells about 12 Buells per year. That seems really low to me. This facility is brand new although the dealership has been around for a very long time. Its the typical mall style mega store with clothes and accessories all over the walls. There isn't one Buell part or even a T shirt on display anywhere.

Ah, what memories, buying a motorcycle just to have the dealer turn around and stop selling them. That was the case with the first Buell we bought. The dealer was glad to take my wife's money for her Blast! but 4 weeks later when it came time to get the 1,000 mile service, it was "Sorry, but we aren't dealing with Buells any longer."

What really chapped me was that the day we purchased the bike, I asked the owner point blank, "Now you're with Buell for the long run? I'm not going to come in one day to find that you no longer deal with them?"

"Oh no sir Mr Dusterberg, we're committed to Buell, you've nothing to worry about."

Thankfully another dealer in the area picked up the Buell franchise.

Hopefully, another dealer in your area will do the same.

Brian,

Instead of just fat man selling Buells,
hum a little 'Little Feet'............

"There's a fat man,
In the bath tub,
Sel-ling Buells.

"I hear him moan,
I hear it moan,
I hear them mo-o-o-an."

He told me that he sells about 12 Buells per year. That seems really low to me

If you look at the number of bikes sold in the US vs the number of Buell dealers it works out to an average of about 7 bikes per dealer per year.

If you're willing to cross the splendor that is New Joisey into PA, I'd be happy to work on your Buell. Lots of good roads in the Poconos, too.

Dyna - Interesting point that I was unaware of. I wonder if most HD dealers showcase Buell parts. I do visit a HD dealer in Ocean City, MD near my townhouse and they have a couple of Buell parts on display. No Buell clothing though. I'll have to stick with the free shirts. Anybody get the second one yet?

Steve - I'll keep Pensatucky in mind! Thanks. Are you near the Raceway?

>>>I will be looking for a dealer in the NYC / CT area.

I have been riding Buells for about 20 years, owned 9 and ridden many.

I've also had the chance to visit dealerships in 44 states.

My advise is that the best advise you will get is the above posts. I'd be confident in dealer with any of those dealers above who have offered to help.

I'll say this, if you can see the Chrysler Building from where you are making your purchase, go further.

Thanks guys for all your help , I will probably be getting touch with Johnny as I have bought some stuff at Woodstock before , they are good people and although I am based in Greenwich , CT , my XB is garaged at my house in New Paltz, NY about 30 miles from Woodstock.

However ,its always good to have some go-to names when you are travellin' around.

I dont have any problems with my original dealer not selling the great bike any longer, they were honest about it right from the start, so it wasn't something they dropped on me, its interesting the comment being made about Bridgeport, as I believe this dealership is owned by the same guys who own Stamford, who are the team who have dropped Buell.

Thanks again for the help

Adrian.

Jerseyguy I used to live on 7th in OC. But that wasn't the dealer I was speaking of. My residence in DE is about 20 mins from Seaford which is where I picked up my 12 from. When I had the rocker box leak Seaford took it right in and had it back in a couple of days, even though they were backlogged with non-warrenty work.

Adrian:

I am in in Grenwich daily if you have any questions. I'm a male prostitiet and usually usually hang out in the Starbucks at the corner of Greenwich and Arch.

I took TONS of flak when the Grenwich dealer dropped the Buell line mostly because they have some, er "high visibility" customers. Being in the wealthiest city in the nation sucks, eh?

Woodstock is a hoot to ride as well...Henrikl knows some good roads. One word....beware of deer!

All the best,
Court (Live from Grenwich)

For those who asked, I'm at Schoch's h-d/BUELL which is just down the road from the Pinnochio Racetrack.
If you get stuck on the road within a reasonable distance (say, 60-75 miles away from happy valley) or just need help with a part or service problem, give me a call or e-mail and I'll do what I can.

Wycked - Our vacation townhome is on Rte 54 a mile from the beach. I was at the OC HD dealer this weekend. Not one Buell or Buell accessory in sight. Not even a tshirt (I asked). There's a chopper build off mid April this year. www.delmarvabikeweek.com. Are you going?

Depends on if I am off to see the GF or not, or if I am working. OC seems to get the Buell stuff during the tourist rush, then pack it all up and ship it to Seaford during the off season.
