I would have chased him down traffic or not. Then would have called the cops and reported a hit and run.

If that happened to me, I would park the bike right there, even if it blocked traffic during rush hour. Then either call the police or give the driver a piece of my mind, depending on the driver.

And if they wouldn't of left and you felt fine, still call, tomorrow you might wake up with a sore neck or back, then you have to cover the chiropractor bills.

That happened to me a few years back when I was on my Hawk GT. but the guy couldn't stop. I rolled up in between two cagers, he veered off into the turn lane and ran the red light still screeching and sliding. Ya, I ran him down and told him what an IDIOT he was. Made ME feel better

I would also have shut it down right there in traffic and walked to the back of his car to get the tag no first. Then (a mostly one-sided) discussion could begin with the offending driver.

I've also had to pull in between 2 lanes of cars to keep from getting hit at a light due to cellphoneitis and the sudden sound of screeching tires. As a result, I hardly ever shift into N at lights unless there's a lot of cars behind me that have already stopped.

Probably the best thing would have been to call the cops the minute he left and give them a description of the vehicle, any of the tag numbers you might have seen, and direction they were traveling. Also, if there was anyone around that saw the accident get their name and number so they can give a statement to the police later.

Of course it's hard to think of all that when you're slightly dazed and completely pissed off.

Unless local laws say differently you don't move vehicles in an accident until law enforcement come and write a report.
Once you move them, unless you have witnesses, it's your word against theirs.
However, in Houston they had signs telling you to clear the road if possible after an accident. It depends on the city I guess.

Is this a normal route you use? When I go to and from work there are many days I see the same cars through out the week. Keep your eyes peeled. You may see them again.

Here's a lesson to all of us. No disrespect to Ozzie84, I did the same thing in a roller blade/car thing. I was so shaken up, angry and sore all over I just lit into the guy and told him to, well, not proud of it, F--- off, which he did.

I missed two weeks off work. Would have been something to have him top up my benefits and buy new equipment.

So, include in your mental accident preparation plans that you don't move until you get the info. And don't hesitate to call the police.

It's just amazing the lack of attention people pay on the roads. Not only lack of attention but also lack of patients. I was riding the other day (well about 2 weeks ago now) and was about 4 car lengths behind the car in front of me. I was just cruising the speed limit enjoying the ride. I noticed a car on the opposite side in a turning lane steadily creeping out. Car in front of my passes through the intersection, then the car on the opposite side guns the gas making his left turn right in front of me. I about shit myself. All I could see was the big ass green back door coming right at me. I managed to make it through without hitting anything.

I jetted down the next side road that ran parallel to the one ol boy headed down. He got caught at a light, I cut down another rode and pull right up to his door. I looked into the window, dude was smoking a blunt. Dude wouldn't even look at me. I seriously don't even think he knew he pulled out in front of me. I left it alone. Light turned green and I hauled ass.

Firebolt, That's when a window punch would have come in real handy. It would have gotten his attention. And hopefully your Riding or fighting skills are pretty good.

Jeeeeezus SVT, was that your bike??

My first close-call was yesterday morning. On my way to work where 3 lanes turns into 2, then into one. I was in the left lane, the one the people in the right have to merge to. Guy in an Acura just starts coming over, thought he was waiting for me to speed up but now. When he was at 4 or 5 feet I was honking, waving my left arm. When he got a foot away, swift kick to his leftside fender stopped him dead in his tracks. He kept flashing me, I pull over at sidestreet and he just keeps going. Cops would be on my side. Airhorns are next on my mod list.

First, Glad to hear you are physically OK. Go out to the bike now and lay down by it and check it over real good. Look for leaks, tire damage, rim damage, etc.
I always carry an ink pen. You don't need paper, write on your hand or arm. I write on my work uniform all the time. Look at them real good, this is your new benefactor. Be very polite to them, they could be experiencing a medical problem. Call 911 for help for them. If you have a camera on your phone, start taking pictures. Their face, license plate, drivers lic., then any damage. Always ride the ambulance to the hospital. Even if you don't want them get the pain meds and x-rays. Remember it is their treat. Do not go the chiropractor for the primary care. Take the time off work. It is their treat. (this is if they are at fault) Call your insurance agent and talk to an accident lawyer. I would call them from the hospital. Just some things I've learned.

+1 on the air horn, I also use it for kids in the street.

Ozzie, I probably know less about bikes than the rest on here, but should you get your suspension and wheel alignment checked? Main thing is that you're OK. And you might be better off not chasing the @$$ hole down, you never know what he can pull out of the glove box...
