Then randomly I go to shift and while the pedal moves like it should there is no shifting happening. I pull over mess with it for a while to no avail. Finally I tap the rod going into the transmission with the but of the screwdriver and it starts working again. And to top it off, on a completely unrelated topic (I hope) the belt finally gave out 15 miles later. Everything moved together as it should. One thing I just thought of, the shaft does seem to have some end play. It will move in and out a little. I can't say how much for sure. Maybe a 1/16? Maybe more/less.
