For those riders that have more experience and would be less suseptible to the placebo effect... Will increasing rear preload one notch be obviously noticed?

I am about 45min from starting a 4 hour ride through the mountains and decided to bump rear pre-load up from 2-3 for a little more input from the bars and less input from me needed ; ). Just wondering (because I know regardless I will think it changed) if it will in fact have a significant difference in handling or stability.

I noticed the changes when I did it.

What I did was set it to the manual at home, printed out the setting and took the tools with me on the road. There's a nasty bit of concrete highway near here. I just made several passes until it was under control.

Thanks! Sounds like you were talking more about how it reacted to bumps etc... I am more just thinking is one click on the preload enough change in geometry to really notice increased turn in.

Anyways just got back, plenty of twisty roads and I felt super confident, much more so then yesterday's ride but didnt notice a huge difference and I had one of those days yesterday where you just didnt feel up for fast riding (an off day)... So I dont know how much of a difference it made but regardless I love how it handled today, nothing got worse so I am going to leave it as is... Stock settings plus one on the rear preload.

Sport coach talk:

plateau is when you've been doing something long enough that you're getting bored and distracted. You feel clumsy.

Time to take it to the next level. Changing something minor that you barely notice is sometimes all you need to move on.

When you get to the pro level, you know all the changes you have to make on the first lap. You've already built up the mental library. Don't kid yourself, it takes a long time to get there, like AC/DC and Rock and Roll.
