Interesting new anti-theft device being designed in Sasketchewan university.

Basically, you use your cell phone to call a device you've installed on your bike, it triggers the heat sensor to spike and slows the bike down and stops it. Also locates it.

I think Xopti is half-way there.

There's a link in the article to a youtube video.

They need to come up with a unit that puts 50,000 volts to the lowlife that stole the bike. Thats a unit I would pay good money for!

i think delivering that should go right thru the seat into said thief's crotch area.

First things first. Stop the bike, disable the bike and then, while the sucker is wondering what happened, zap him.

Zapping him while riding will toast your bike as well as him. Make for a great youtube vid though.

Better: CLAMP him to the bike so his body cushions the fall and leaves him trapped till the police can recover the bike AND arrest him as well...

It seems like a good idea on the surface but there are a few things to consider. The first, many stolen bikes are picked up and thrown in the back of cargo vans or trucks typically in the middle of the night (yes I do know some happen during the day). Which means the thief has a good 4 to 5 hours to locate the device and disable it before you even realize the bikes missing. The second point, So ok you call the bike and the bike tells you where its at, what happens next?...... Simple, you go grab your .45 and return your bike to its home and one less thief on the streets. I had my 2004 Firebolt stolen from my apartment complex in Colorado Springs and believe me if I would have known the location of it the cops would have a murder charge on me. So in my case I would say it would be a bad idea lol

Sounds like a good idea. Sort of like a proactive Lojack. What about just tracing the location to keep track of your kids.

I say just use enough power to melt him to the seat. Hmm could always install spikes into the rear-sets that flick out through the leg if triggered.

Maybe its just me, but personally instead of a zap device, I would just want a cube of c4... One less thief, and a chance to get a new toy.

After something is stolen it is never the same.
