My Dad is considering buying a brand new 2007 XB12Ss. The dealer is offering to sell it at $8000. My questions are:

1. Is this a good price?
2. Were any improvements made in 2008 or 2009 that would make a 2007 undesirable?

Thanks fellow Buellers!

Is that an out the door price?

I believe the differences from 2008-2009 were blacked out (I really like this), ZTL2 brakes (from 1125, 8 piston vs. 6 piston) and a new stronger belt.

I dont know about 2007 vs. 2008 but I want to say thats when they made all the significant changes to fueling, crank, oil cooling etc...

Still obviously a perfectly good bike, just make sure its in good condition (been sitting around for a while) and try and really work on the price if you think there is room to push lower and see what you can do.

I bought a new 2007 xb12scg at a discount in May 2008. From what I've read, 2007 was a good year. I love mine.

2007 is a good year.

In 2008, Buell eliminated the need to do the Throttle Position Sensor. However, some 2008 XB's also had fuel injection mapping issues due to stricter emissions.

I would take the 07 over the 08 any day.

Got my 07 12S OTD at $9k back in March 08. Brand new, I'd say 8k is good deal, but I would not pay what they are advertising, talk them down if you can.

08' & 09' have different EFI setup. They switched to a crank sensor for timing and it is a better way to do it than before. Also, the learning style ECU seems to work very well vs having to reflash the ECU for basic mods. BTW, I bought my 09' Ss for $9995 OTD, so be persistent and willing to travel to get the best deal.
