First..does anyone have a clutch cable assembly for a 03' Lightning? Mine is leaking out of the crimped cap down where it goes into the primary. It is not leaking where it screws into the primary. I took the cable out of the primary hoping that I could take the bottom part of the cable sleeve off and just replace it. That was a no go...guess I have to replace the whole thing.

Was also wondering if anyone has ceramic coated their muffler? I have my D&D pulled off right now and notice a bit of surface rust and was thinking about going ahead and getting it coated. Any thoughts on the subject?

Thanx Jas

Dunno about the clutch. Odie has had some of his customers ceramic coat their mufflers. Looks great. Colors available too! There is a pic on his website.

Possibly the oring has gone bad on the primary? When you say leaking, is it oil coming out from the primary, and dripping out of the cable sleeve? Ive actually been looking at getting my stock pipe ceramic coated. Sick and tired of the freakin hunk of rust sitting under the bike. Sanded and re-painted it about 8 months ago, and already looks like poo : (, so I would like to hear of anybody who has comments as well or solutions to stopping the rust.

No it is not a bad o-ring. If you look at the clutch cable there is a crimped cap on it down where it goes into the primary. It is actually leaking out of the cap itself. Pain in the ass really because the only way to fix it is to replace the WHOLE clutch cable or maybe clean the area really good and put some kind of sealant on it.....???

Slinger- that is a common leak. Some people have repaired by cleaning and wrapping with self-bonding electrical tape. This isn't regular electrical tape- this stuff basically welds to itself. You might be able to do it with heat-shrink tubing too.

I have my micron ceramic coated, and it looks pretty good. Cools down quick too.

Not exactly what you're asking about, but here's what an X1 header and D&D muffler look like after ceramic coating. They haven't been installed yet, so I can't tell you how it affects heat.

IMO fiberglass wrap is worthless when it comes to heat, so I decided to give the ceramic a shot.

$240 at Coat Pro in Oklahoma City.

Another Bueller in the area told me they're getting an M2 force pipe done right now for $170 at a different shop in OKC. I haven't seen it yet to compare the quality.

Slinger, if the clutch cable is the same for an XB Lightning as a Firebolt, I have a new spare cable for a Firebolt I don't need any more. If you're interested in it, PM me.
