Ive found the bike I am looking for its an '07 XB12R with 1144 miles, and the Harley dealership is asking $8100. Its a distance away so I dont want to spend the $700 to fly out and look it over, test ride it, then fly back. If I did get my price I would have it shipped out here. Am I taking a risk by not inspecting it in person, even though its virtually new? I would run a background on it, to see if its been in an accident, and have detailed pics sent but besides that there is not much else I can do. Am I taking a huge risk?

Yup, price is too high to deal with that hassle. My new 2009 XB12Ss was $9,995 out the door.

I'd be hesitant to purchase sight unseen, even from a dealer. Agree the price is a bit high also.

I had a situation like this as well when I bought my bike. Dealer told me it had new tires and was in flawless condition. Had a friends father drive 2 hours to the dealer with a trailer to get it and there was some untold flaws. Old tires and it had been dropped on one side. I got the price lowered a lot from what they were asking but was disappointed when I got there.

Which dealer is it at, maybe someone on here would be nice enough to check it out for you. I would also have to say that the price is a little high though. I was at Aces and Eights, my nearest dealer, and they have 5 2008 1125r's new for $9500.

Price isn't too far off actually...

Talk them down some. If they wont budge, then no go.

Yeah price is WAY to high at that price get a new one.I personally would not trust a word the dealer says since I have worked for many of them and they are all liars well at least the sales men.

Either get them to drop the price by about 1200 or so or find a better deal trust me their are WAY better deals out their

Also its not about what the "NADA" says but what the people/deals are going for.

actually buells are more expensive up here, being an import for us. Thanks ryanhook but bringing one across the border is a huge hassle, fees, customs, difference in the dollar etc. Anyone know a good bike shipping company in Canada, and est. cost on average per km/mile?

I bought my SS sight unseen, over the web. I rode with the owner a few times a while back, and he was honest with damage/flaws. We agreed to a price, met up made it happen. : )

If the price is high why bother? But I second getting a badwebber to look for you but that still leaves it to his opinion. And I would never trust someone who is paid commision that I don't know. No offence.

Dealer prices are always a little high. Is it a good reputable shop? Agree with asking someone here to look at it for you and take pics.

I'd say it WAY to high. I paid about that OUT THE DOOR for 07 XB12Stt in 07. And it was new only a mile or so on the clock, I did have to pay the taxes in Indiana as I bought it in MI.

STT's didn't seem to sell too well as some dealers still have '07s. 1125's can be had pretty cheap as well. 12r's seem to command the most and not too sure of the selection in Canada? Think thats where op is from???

Hell is in Michigan, not Ontario so no idea where you are.

That seems high when I look at biketrader.

My local dealer seems Buell friendly, sales staff and mechanics own them, they have several in stock but I don't think anything used. I'll be there over the weekend.

You're not too far away from the new list price ($11,789). $8100 plus 700 gets pretty close to 9. Shipping takes you closer. I do big math when it comes to bikes.

BTW, if you were looking at a US dealer, it would cost about $3000 to cross the border.

I do know they do out of town orders very well. I was talking to some guys who rode down from Barrie to pick up some cruiser. They had a fifteen minute turnaround and were very pleased that it was hassle free. Everything was ready for them.

Just curious what that $3000 would be for? It's only a couple hundred to bring a car or bike from the USA (plus gst and pst which you would have to pay here anyway)

last I checked, and I could be wrong, you can't import US Buells into Canada. Most US cars can be imported so there's no hassle but the Buells are made country specific.

There's a list on the border website that has the info.

Okay, just checked and you can import up to '06, can't import later models.

Couldn't find the total cost that I thought I saw. Think it had to do with brokers and licenses, etc.

wow, I think your right iamarchangel, thanks for the heads up. I assumed all US made vehicles were admissable to Canada, but it is only up till '06, I wonder why?

http://www.tc.gc.ca/roadsafety/SafeVehicles/Import ation/Usa/VAFUS/list/Section8_0.htm

**as for cost importing to Canada, you pay GST, PST (when you register at MVB), $215 RIV fee, no duty on vehicles made in North America, 6.1% for all others, and whatever the 10-day temporary registration cost to drive it in the US and Canada is.

Well, assume that all trade laws are supposed to protect domestic businesses, this lets the licensed importer have 2-3 years of exclusive rights.

There's also the legal paperwork to keep up with so that would run a few years behind.

Note that you could get a broker to work out with the manufacturer to complete the border transaction. However, that would quickly go over dealer cost.

Still haven't said where you are in Ontario but you're obviously willing to travel for a deal. Check out Rocky's here in London. On the website, under contact, Jeff, the GM, owns an 1125R, used to own Firebolts, A couple of the mechanics and sales staff own Buells. Wayne, the sales rep, is a good guy to talk to. My bike and I have been treated very respectfully there. (Of course, they still want $85 flat rate, but they do a good job.)

See what they can do, come down, ride back, no passport needed.

Timmins - so close to Russia, the radio station is KGB (used to be, is it still?)

My dad lived there and ran the South Porcupine hospital for a few year until he took real sick.

Still remember drinking coke against beer rounds in the Empire and wondering why. Never again.

Nice country to ride in.

One heck of a ride back from here. Three days?

Ask Rocky's about delivery. You really are far away, aren't you.

Checked the dealers and the closest big ones are Barrie and Owen Sound. All I know about them is that three guys were willing to ride down here, pick up a new bike and ride back on an October evening in about 12°. That tells me something.

I'm in Owen Sound area and bought mine from Fox's in Owen Sound. They are good to deal with but not a lot of experience with Buells but if they don't know something they will admit it and try to find an answer.

If your importing from the USA don't forget the 28% exchange rate on the money.

I think you also need a certified clear title and a letter from a dealer in the USA stating that there are no outstanding recalls on the bike. You have to present that to USA customs and get an export permit BEFORE the bike leaves the USA

From what I have been told it isn't difficult, you just have to make sure you have all your paper work in order
