I just got my bike back and put together yesterday. I'm really excited to have it cause it's finally getting nicer here. (It snowed last week.)

Ok, I have to rant. It's amazing how inept my local "buell" dealership is. When I picked up the bike I had two different mirrors, two different rider's pegs, no decals (might be a good thing, not sure yet) the wrong pucks ordered, and nobody knew what was going on at all.

The pegs make some sense because they only replaced one and I have the lowered lightning pegs on there, but I did tell them about that several times when ordering the parts. The mirrors confuse me though because they were supposed to replace both. One is obviously longer which is ok, but I think they didn't replace the other one.

Absolutely ridiculous.

Now to the questions. I took this opportunity to change a few things, including switching from battle blue to the ever-beautiful thrust blue. I was impressed how easy it was to change plastics, but the one snag is the chin fairing. I didn't realize that is riveted together. Do you guys usually drill them out and put in new rivets or do something less permanent?

Also what do you guys suggest for air box decals? I've already decided not to put on the firebolt stickers for the fairing and tail, but I'm up in the air about the airbox. I like the clean look, but I think the Buell ones look great too.
What color should I go with if I decide to go with the stickers? It's a thrust blue xb9r with white wheels and the silver frame, but I'd like to possibly switch to amber wheels if I get a chance.

Hmm, before I saw the "now" pics I thought you should add the airbox decals. However,after looking at the pics I like it without the airbox decals. I'm diggin' the white wheels.

BTW, the warning stickers must go.

Hey thanks. I like the white wheels too, but they are no fun to keep clean.

Whats the best way to take those stickers off? To be honest I never paid any attention to them, but now I do.

It's amazing how inept my local "buell" dealership is.

I will never take mine to the dealership again. Best bet...get a manual and do the work yourself. The book does a very good job in breaking these bikes down.

The stickers...just simply peel them off and clean up the residue with goof off.

For the decals...this is what Buell offers.

Yeah I plan on doing most of the work on my bike myself, but this was an insurance thing and I had to do it at the dealership.

Thanks, I'll definitely peel those off soon, now that my attention has been drawn to it I can't stop noticing how terrible they look.

Yeah the ones that look white are actually silver, but that's what I'm leaning toward.

Hair dryer to soften them if needed. I was able to just peel mine off with just a fingernail. Don't get in a hurry.

Look in to rivnuts. It is a combo rivit/nut. Put it in the hole on the second part. Then use a bolt to fasten the top piece on.

If you plan on swapping plastics on a regular basis, just buy an entire chin spoiler. If you look long enough, you will score a used one usually around $50 +/-

I have a chin spoiler for each of the 4 "Flavor of the Day" sets of plastics. I can swap in about 15 minutes, including my Firebolt tail section.
