Bike: 2003 XB9S with 6000 miles.

Was mechanically stock. I installed a K&N filter and Race ECM that came with the bike.

Used EcmSpy to reset TPS.

Bike runs like it's lean, stuttering and producing poor power. After a few minutes riding in "Learn" mode, the ECM light comes on, and the bike produces much lower power.

Downloading the trouble codes, I find a error that says "the O2 sensor is indicating lean".

I have read multiple threads here on BWB, but cannot find a direct solution.

Can anyone assist?

I have a friend with an identical bike, with K&N, Race ECM, and Drummer muffler. His runs fine. Can I copy his ECM and burn to mine? Would this solve the problem?

Thanks.

Did you reset the TPS correctly? The bike needs to be warm when you do it. Also, which exhaust are you running?

Stock exhaust.

Aaaaah. It needs to be warm! I will try again tomorrow.

Thanks!

TPS reset won't help with O2 sensor problems.
P&A ECM does not match stock silencer.
If the ECM throws an O2 sensor error, it might perhaps be worth looking at the O2 sensor first.

OK, I put the stock ECM back in. No more O2 sensor error codes and it runs better, but still a little sketchy at low RPM, part throttle.

What intake seals? Sealing of the airbox?

The seals between the intake manifold and the heads. Regardless of miles, the bike is going on 10 model years old......

yes what gunter said +2

also if it still does this. did you save your factory settings before a tps reset.

i have had mine burn in funny before and throw a cel and run weird. i reburnt it in and all was fine.

this was with the older versions of ecmspy though.

i would check tps, then check the O2 sensor. they are 23.00 at auto zone.

intake seal leak. if its this get genuine games blue seals as replacements.

Before you start tearing things apart I would redo the TPS again following the published methods.

The fact that your stock ECM works fine when you put it back in tells me the TPS wasn't done write and nothing was changed. The possibility of the stock and Race having the same calibration is pretty rare. I've run in to this heaps of times when I get messed up playing with maps that I made over backup ECM data with the wrong TPS data. Mine will usually idle poorly, requiring a little throttle and run like poo. Takes it about 3-4 mins of test riding to throw the O2 lean code.
