I have ridden the 1125R extensively. For the most part, the biggest difference it has to my Firebolt is the power. Beyond that, it's hard to find other reasons.

As much as I like the idea of owning a new 1125R, there are a couple of things I just didn't like about it. That same engine that makes the 1125R such a fast bike also vibrates far more than my XB12R motor. Sure. The XB motor shakes at idle, but above that it is smooth. The 1125 motor has a jackhammer feel to its vibration and the higher the RPM, the worse it gets.

The rest of the bike is very similar to my Firebolt. The handling is improved but not by a whole lot. A well sorted Firebolt will handle pretty close to it. The 1125's brakes are much more powerful though and it should given the bike has that much more power.

What I would really want is an improved XB12R Firebolt. Maybe up the displacement to 1300 for a bit more power. Extend the chassis to get the range of the Lightning Long. Give it the 1125R's "Quiet Zone" cockpit. However, I do prefer the simplicity and the smoothness of my Firebolt over the 1125R's motor.

No but I'd like to ride one sometime!

As far as improving the XB, yeah there are things I'd change but those quirks are what gives it character.

While we're at it, I'd wish for a truck that has a Cummins engine, Alliosn tramsmission and a Ford body & drivetrain. Much like my XB wish list... it's not gonna happen.

In response to Rogue;

My 1125 CR doesn't vibrate, shake or rattle.
It's a very smooth motor, atleast now it is. The first 150 were super lean and a little rough.
Now at less then 450 mile the engine is smoother then the XB9 & XB12scg that I sometimes ride with. This could be because of the ECM learning. The shaking you felt may have come from the prior or the ECM programing, which is different from 2008 to 2009 models.

The overall feel of the bike is similar to the Firebolt yet very different. The power delivery, brakes and a few other bells and whistles make the 1125 more of a Duc hunter then any previous Buell.

I agree with Rogue biker I sold my XB for a CR and the XB is much smoother then the CR at highway speeds !

I think what you're referring to is the suspension a d not the motor.

The "vibration" difference is more of a "harmonic", or high-frequency pulse that comes through the pegs of the 1125's. The XB's uniplanar engine mount isolates the vibes from the rider, while the rigid-mount 1125 transfers vibes directly to the rider. At idle, the XB is shake, rattle and roll- but above that it does not have any of the numbing harmonic vibration that the 1125's exhibit. I have ridden both- the XB is smoother.

It's possible that I don't have enough seat time on the 1125, (I actually have more seat time on my buddies XB9) but I don't feel any of what you all are talking about. Or maybe it's the combination of the 1125's rubber top pegs and the thick rubber soles of my boots. I don't know.
In fact my Ducati Monster vibrates more then the 1125 harmonic or otherwise and that bike is a hard mount.

I'll have to take it out later to see if I notice it ....

IMHO, the CR is the dead sexiest bike I've ever seen... pods and all. I'd LOVE to have one, except for these 3 reasons:

1.) I'm not much into maintenance, and the XB motors needs nothing but fluid changes.

2.) My Ss gets 52 mpg consistently. I've yet to hear of an 1125 coming anywhere close to that.

3.) My wife told me "No."

Can't say I notice my 1125R vibrating any more than did my XB12Ss. In a lot of places, it's smoother.

I LOVE the look of the CR. Great riding bike to boot. I just dont like the motor as much as I do the ol' HD V-twin.

In a word, No. But if I had the $$ to buy an "extra" bike it's be an 1125

I love my R especially after 3rd remap and i added 10 percent across the whole map.She runs smooth and has alot more power also. The xb12s is a awesome bike .The xb12s has a fun factor.1125r is a superbike and the 12s series is a city cruiser line in my eyes. as far as the cr I dont know where that thing came in this lineup?

The XB12S is obsolete, the CR replaced it.

That is a smokin' deal, especially with the warranty. But I can't swing it - my Firebolt forbids me from buying a rival at the moment.

After taking a brief ride I didn't notice any harmonic vibrations. I'm going to ride my buddies XB9 and the CR back to back this weekend, (weather permitting) to compare the two. My curiosity is peaked now.
