does anyone have any links for 240 tire conversions on XB models. I know this has come up a hundred times but the search function wasn't pulling anything up.

ThanX in advance,
Ryan

you will have to do a chain conversion in order to gain space to fit the 240 tires in the swingarm.
everything will come with the kit: 8"X18" wheel (it's basically a widen stock Buell XB wheel), rear pulley same design of the wheel, front sprocket, chain tensioner, spacers for the right footpeg base (you will need a little space for the chain).
you just have to purchase a part the chain (530) and the tires, but you can get everything from there if you don't have particular needs on the style like I did.
very complete and well done kit, worth every penny!

I took the OP as an overall request for information.

Didn't realize it was a person to person request for data.

Nice pics TIJ.

I just wanted to know what is out there, I thought there were also some companies overseas making the kits as well? I want to weigh my options out before spending alot of money.

To make a Very long story short, I let a friend ride my XB12 this last week and he totaled it out. The bike was mint and exactly what I thought was the perfect buell at the time, but now its Time to build another and I'm going all out this time. My last XB had a 200 on it that looked big but siting next to one with a 240 I'm sure it would have dwarfed my 200

Ummmm NO!!!! I'd hate to lose a bike I have thousands into to replace another riders bike. I also don't like to ride others bikes.... I have my own. Safer that way.

That's fine.

I just took your comments as jumping on TIJ for posting additional information about a swingarm as if you had PM'd him so the discussion was over.

Sorry if I took it wrong, but it seemed a little gruff.

By his comment, I think he felt it was as well.

Ryan,

Grandstands kit is most probably the best in the biz though.

yes, I did feel that way too, Jeremy. it seemed bothered from my pictures and my explanations. but we must have had the wrong impression, I guess...
Dana,
you probably should have shared the informations in the thread and not PM Ryan, since there might be somebody else interested in those informations. that's what I did...
to be even more precise, the kit sold from Hillbilly Motors is different than the one sold from GSD, since the German company keeps the belt transmission instead of the chain conversion, so there will be the problem to fit the 240 tires in the swingarm.
so the kit is complete with a new widen swingarm (expensive, I need to say!), spacer to aline the sprocket with the pulley ( I'm sorry but I don't know the exact word in english, disassato in italian, my language), spacers to pull out the right footpeg base (definitely more noticeable in this kit than in the one from GSD), widen wheel, I guess but I'm not sure new pulley and new sprocket and a custom made front sprocket cover if you wanna use one, since you won't be able to use a normal aftermaket, as I did instead.
you can see it in the Hellbender bike (the only special Buell ever featured on an official Buell book) of Hillbilly.
and this kit costs close to double the amount of the one from GSD, plus shipment from Germany, is gonna cost you a fortune!
sorry for adding further informations...

I've talked to Jens at Hill Billy Motors about 2 years ago. You don't have to mod the swingarm to use his kit if you use a 8 inch wheel. Then you can get away with your stock swingarm.. The Hellbender's rear wheel is also off-set if memory serves. Edoardo, this info is nothing new. A search will bring lots of results. Like I said he posted and I was on line..... I PM'd him.

I didn't speak with Jens, but I spoke with a very good friend of mine in Italy who used to do Business with Jens (he had an online Buell aftermarket parts shop) when I decided to put the 240 rear tire and he told me about the swingarm. he went to visit Jens in Germany and saw the Hellbender in person.
but if you tell me you spoke to Jens and he told you that, then I don't discuss.
the only thing that makes me think is why GSD did his kit with the chain conversion? if you're telling me even a belt would fit in the stock swingarm with the 240, probably they converted to chain not to let the wheel working off-set.
in that case, the kit sold from Hillbilly doesn't work correctly, because if the rear wheel will work off-set, the bike will alway have a lot of troubles.
I'm just guessing...

and also the 240 kit from GSD uses an 8' wide wheel like the one from Hillbilly....
looking at my bike, I don't see enough space to fit the belt in that swingarm...

Here is a link for wide wheel kit. I know this guy has posted pics of his bike here on bad web somewhere. Search it up. I also believe he runs the belt. There are some crazy lookin' bikes on his site.

Edoardo,

The Hellbender is a 9 inch wheel. That is why a cut has to be made on the swingarm. The wheel is off set so you can still use the stock belt. The spacers if I remember were 13mm. I'll tell ya... I've had my 12 now for going on 6 years (OMG I haven't owned anything gas powered that long) and I've toyed and investigated the 240 for all of 4 years now and haven't committed just yet.

Picture this a 240 tire on a single sided swing arm. Can it be done? I did see a site that sells the single sided swing are for buells but would that tire fit?

I was told 240 before, oh well.

Edit: I looked at the tire numbers on the full size 8 meagapixel, indeed it is a 190.

Brian had it at Homecoming a couple years ago. Its a cool bike for sure. To my understanding though it was sold quite some time ago. His new project bike kick's ass even more then that one.

very nice bike indeed, more as a superbike: full Ohlins suspensions (front, rear, steering dumper), very interested the dual front rim calipers, the rear should be useless seen the dimensions, but for whatever you need it on a track, it's enough.
I like he kept the oil tank in the swingarm and the Marchesini wheels.
beautiful bike and interesting solutions here!
