Had a project to get done before summer. I was going to try to make my bike flawless by fixing a few cosmetic things (dent in header & cam cover) from the previous owner. Ran into a few road bumps on the way. 1st one of my motor mount bolts snapped off in the head. Finally got that fixed after a few weeks. Next, went to take off my header and none of the header bolts would budge after about 7 hours of working on them. I didnt want to end up snapping off a stud so I have finally decided to run with the flaws on my bike. While rotating the motor back in, my rear tie mount bolt snapped off...well luckly I got it out before I had flashbacks of the motor mount. So I went ahead and decided to go ahead and put the center tie mount on top...come to find out I'm not lining up. I really have ran into a long ordeal of bad luck. I tried moving the motor over a big but its not moving. At this point I would just like to get it back together and hope it starts up after a winter of sitting. Does anyone have any advice about the center tie rod? | ||

I always put the large front motor mount bolt in to do the alignment. Sorry to hear of your difficulties. | ||

I am following the manual step by step. Right now the front isolator and motor mount bolts torqued down. I also torqued the real isolator. I still have the support under it since I do not have the top and rear tie bars on. I'm not understanding why the top tie bar is 1/4 inch off why the rest looks aligned. | ||

I never tighten anything beyond finger tight until every bolt is started. Loosen all mounts and try again. | ||

+1 to starting every bolt before tightening. | ||

+2 on the start of every bolt before tightening,this can cause many misalignment | ||

Wow, that sounds really frustrating. Take a step back for a day or two, do something non-bike related, then hit it with a fresh set of eyes. Hopefully a restart will help. ~SM | ||

Well i got it back in but I have a small road bump. There is a black connector with a yellow connection under the airbox that I cannot find in the manual. Is this possibly a trouble shooting plug? or am i missing it somewhere? Thanks! | ||
