i've tried a couple of different kinds on my xb9sx. pro taper "schoolboy hi or low" is a pretty good match to the stock bar in terms of width, just a little lower in height. they also look cool, have a cross bar & come in different colors. renthal has some good ones. also you could try a web site called "fly-n-cycle" they have some inexpensive bars. good luck

American Sport Bike has a few nice ones, if you dont want to go super low then I have heard good things about renthal bars.

What is it that you want to improve from the stock is a big question...?

i don't know about calboy but i wanted to go a little lower & i like the looks of the bolt on crossbar. only lowered it about 3/4 of an inch from stock(scoolboy hi) but it was just right.

I grabbed a set of black "euro" bars off eBay for cheap, about $30 shipped.

Stock Bar Dimensions = Width: 28", Rise: 4", Pull: 6.5", Center: 5"
"European" handlebar = Width: 30", Rise: 2.4", Pull: 4.8", Center: 4.8"
They're a little more aggressive than the stock bars but still quite comfortable.

Right now I have a new set of clubmans (the first set didn't fit right) which are much more aggressive, but not really comfortable on long trips.
Also the clubmans aren't as fun in city traffic. The narrower bars aren't as suited to slow speed maneuvering.

I personally have used BikeMaster Superbike bend on my Lightning in the past and loved them. You can get them in chrome or black. Here are a few sites that carry them.

I've been running those pro taper schoolboy hi's also. Just a smudge lower than stock, but straighter... I always felt as if I was pushing out on the stockers. These have less backsweep and are more comfy for me. They're a 7/8's bar so they clamp with no mod necessary.

My .02 on the deal....and something that I read from other Badwebbers....

Pro Taper Carmichael SE bars

They made a comfortable ride more comfortable than I could imagine. I am 5'11"...about 180...and the bike fits me amazingly well now. They are almost flat with less pullback than the stock XB9SX bars...which were just a funny shape for my shoulders. Now that I have them on the bike just seems to turn better...they feel lighter so easier turning...and the wall thickness is at least twice that of the stock bars....so less likely to bend if dropped or laid down. All in all...I could not be happier. They come with a crossbar and pad that is easily removable if you want them off.

The reason the walls are twice as thick is they're aluminum. The stockers are steel.

Also try the oneal azonic 7/8 in cr low bend. I have been running them for three years until just last september. The bars saved my bike from being destroyed on the throttle side, very strong.

If you are happy with the stock ones what is your need to change them?

Biff that bike is HOT!

What are the details on the tailight assembly?

And do you have any close up pics or info on the plate mount?

When I do my grater removal and integrated signal job I plan to mount mine something like that, nice and clean but not totally flush with fender like others have done.

thanks jordan.

I keep telling myself to put together a write up on everything I did on the lights. I have posted bits and pieces, but nothing complete.

I have to make (another) license plate bracket because this one broke. I will most likely do it over the weekend.

when I am doing that, I will take pics of the tail section and do a quick write up for all those that have sent me questions about it.

I will shoot you a pm with the link to the write up when done.

Much appreciated! Am I correct that your running only integrated turn signals? How do you feel about them? I was planning to use just XB Lights LED integrated signals and no external ones but dont see it TO often...

Calboy, what are you looking for in a bar? Higher position? Lower? Just a different look?

Has anyone seen something like these anodized in a color other than grey or gold? I'm thinking blue ones with blue wheels would look sweet...or red...or...

Perhaps they can be bought non-anodized and I can just have it done?

Well the STT/CityX bar is black, has a crossbar, and is the same in terms of ergonomics. It bolts right on, and you can get one cheap in the classifieds here. That’s what I did because I didn't like the chrome stocker.
