Was this on your 03 9r I see in your profile?
my crank bearing on the pinion side failed to the point where it sheared off the pinion shaft. It happened without warning and I didn't hear or feel anything leading up to this. My bike was a 03 9r with 22k on it. It took two years....but I finnaly decided to replace the motor with a used 06 xb12...It seemed cheaper to buy a used motor instead of fixing my old one. To fix your bearing, you would basically need to rebuild your engine.

The manual makes it sound like HD does an exchange program with the cranks. Have you looked into that? Like call Buell, not the local dealer.

Whitethunder, I bought a wrecked bike $2400, parted it out, kept what I wanted (motor and other esentials) sold the rest on ebay for what I paid for the whole bike.....got the motor for free!!!!
minus labor......You can find wrecked bikes out there for pretty cheap
