Buying another buell because I missed my old one so much! The bike im looking at is an 05 black/gold with 3300 miles. The owner states he put a race ecm and air filter on but did not buy the exhaust. He states the bike runs well except when the RPMs are down low the bike will buck unless you get the revs up. Could this be a cause of the race ECM he installed? I thought these required a re-set of some sort on the TPS? He's asking $5500 but i plan to offer $4800.

that has really low miles, what does the title say?
I paid 5500 for mine last year or so, 4800 is reasonable
....because he could of replaced the speedo putting a clean-slate for the miles to rack up... or the guy doesnt ride enuff

I don't understand how you can find older bikes with so little miles on them? What the point of having a bike and not riding it!?

A buddy of mine bought a GayRod at the beginning of last summer. During that summer he only put on 1k miles or so. This is also his first bike, so you would think he'd be on it at much as possible. I give him sh!t all the time...

Been meaning to post this. I still have the stumble off idle and I'll have to see if the mpg issue was fixed. Just filled her up. And its supposed to snow tomorrow 4-8"! BS!!!

But the only thing the did was the reflash. So I'm guessing there is no fix to this problem, unless somebody comes out with a working tuner. Its all good in my book, I still have a bad azz bike!

Like I said before the stumble of idle does not really bother me, I can work around that, and as with the sh!ty mpg, I don't really care, that isn't the reason why I bought the bike.

I took the scg in for some warranty work, front rocker gasket and the clutch cable retainer. They also reflashed, as well as replaced the fuel line via a service bulletin. I think I lost the stumbling, cracks easily off idle now. The fuel line thing was news to me so check it out.

Niceguy, I wrote more about it in my original thread but its now in the archives so it won't bump up. I'm on my phone now so for some reason it won't copy and paste the text for a new thread. I'll have to do that when I get home from work. The original post was on March 17th.

Sound like you got her fixed hey.

Yeah I'll ask about that fuel line, news to me also. Thanks

I bought my 05 about five months ago with 3500 miles on it. I thought it was low too but the guy had five other bikes. Two Ducatis two Harleys and a BMW with 30k miles on it. So it may not be that guys only bike.

I bought my 04' last year for $4500, which I thought was a really good deal . It only had 1900 MILES on it in 4 years . I don't know why anyone would pay for a bike that they only rode 500mi a year , his loss my gain

I have owned 3 of these bikes in the past so I can tell if they have more miles on them. Hey I love these kind of owners they keep the bike all nice for the next owners (us). lol

Anyone know why buell quit making the race kit? There exhaust is the only one I like (looks wise) compared to the aftermarket.

Wait, he has the Race ECM on the STOCK pipe? Thats smart, not only is the fuel mapping wrong, you lose the interactive exhaust!

Low mileage used bikes ... just gotta get lucky. I got my '03 in Dec with just over 1500 miles on it. Mint condition, except it needed new battery, tires and fluid change (planned on changing them all anyway) ... but outside of that, it's a 'new' bike at 1/3 of the price. I used the above list as reason for him to drop the price ... if you're planning on changing the exhaust, you got most of the extra stuff already, and the bucking he mentions should be worth a few hundred off the asking price.

Didn't need it....but..I couldn't pass up the price.

I also just bought a a low mileage, 2004, XB12.
Paid $4000, with manual, race ECM, Jardine exhaust, I assume a K&N air cleaner.

He removed the Jardine muffler because he thought it was too loud.
With the Race ECM...the thing is WAY too rich. He said he put it in...so he may not have done the TPS reset.
The engine seems to run..."allright", but is sluggish, black nasty black soot in the exhaust pipe...just in general doesn't sound crisp.

Other than that, and the colors (red body, gold wheels), it "appears" that he's taken pretty good care of it.

I'm hoping the reinstallation of the stock ECM today will clean things up.

Then I can start painting...

Removal of the "race ECM" and the reinstallation of the original ECM made a huge change in the way this thing runs. Much better.
And yea, he did install a K&N filter...but someone crushed the rear portion so it won't even seal around the airbox! Luckily, he gave me the original air cleaner also, so that went back in.

The original owner is about my size, but the suspension was set up for someone about 100lbs lighter...
So I set all that up as an initial attempt.

I checked the tires because the front looked very strange..like it's been run too low on pressure, 18psi...both front and rear...! Fixed that. But it does need new tires.

Removed all stickers.

Looken better all the time.
