I sincerly apoligize if this could've been found with a search but I am late and running to work the night shift and leaving first thing tomorrow morning to do a ride up around Half Moon Bay and the Santa Cruz Mountains...

Just got half my order (waiting on a drummer) from Al at American Sport Bike, Dark Horse aluminum sliders, went on without a hitch.

Also got traction grips.

Just installed the throttle side and was about to do the left side when I realized I have bar end mirrors (from e-bay, the $46 a pair set, supposedly compares to CRG's) on order and that they probably need access to the hole.

The throttle side is no issue I can remove it later but Im afraid with the grip glue (or hairspray like I usually use) it wont come off and I will be stuck with having to buy a new one to install the mirrors...

Should I cut out the hole in the left grip now or is it an easy thing to do while its on the bike?

Do I just need to cut it so it has a hole similar to the stock grip (wide enough to access the bar) or is there some more altering Ill need to do so it works and looks nice with the mirrors?

Also just washed the bike for the first time! Looking good!

I first put the grips in the freezer to harden up a little.
I cut that obvious center section out using a little saw type tool that's used to cut the face into a pumpkin.

Old trick. Put it on the bike as is, take a hammer and lightly tap the end of the bar though the grip after it's on the bike a day or so and glue's nice and dried. Leaves a nice hole the size of the handlebar in the end of the grip.

You can also use little skinny x-acto blades. They are about 1/8 inch wide, 3/4 long, and only sharpened on the tip. Goes right into the groove, and won't mar the outside. I did mine on the handlebar.

Thanks guys sounds like I wont have any problems then!

How well does the buell grip glue work? Does it lubricate the grip enough as well to install it?

I have used hair spray in the past, slides on like it was oiled but sticks great... But dont want to have to buy some in the morning when I go put the left grip on before my ride to the coast.

Real excited to take the bike out for a ride tomorrow! Supposed to be nice and sunny and also excited to see how it handles, went over the suspension tonight. For the most part it was setup correct but there were a few things different including a higher preload on the front then what the manual calls for so that should possibly make it flick even more (lower front).

Thanks guys ended up using the supplied stuff, lubricates it just fine.

But oh my what a pain in the @$$ that was!

Got the grip down to half way then it just STOPPED. That glue buell puts on there stock is indestructable. Came down to a chisel and then sand paper to get the stuff off! Bars all scuffed up now but its all under the grip so who cares...

Then as if that wasnt enough, the plastic bar end piece was practically glued in as well and it broke in half when removing it so whenever the bar end mirrors come Ill probably have to drill it out or something...

Buell really shouldve used something less intense to mount these things! Anyways... time to plan a route for a 3 or so hour ride tomorrow... First time taking it out into the mountains on a weekend, cant wait to see all the jap guys staring at the vista!

Thanks guys just got the mirrors installed today, was easy to cut out the grips with an exacto! Had to drill out the left bar end (broke off when trying to remove, they glued that sucker in!) but after that it wasnt to bad. Took a bit of playing to get them to stay in place but now they work great...

Looks way cleaner on the bike, better position... They are smaller but with the new position and ZERO (even at idle) blurring they are much easier to use...

And at $46's shipped its a great bang for the buck : p. Bought them on e-bay, have heard they compare to CRG.

Anyways, I am done modding until summer when the $$$ is flowing more! That is except for my drummer on the way : )

Did some more riding today, easily the best bang for the buck... Highly recommend these mirrors. Only fallback is the white pivot, should've been black!

Zero vibrations, great view, great sleek look on bike.

Harley dealer had the perfect plugs for the stock mirrors so its all clean now and looks GREAT.

Time to ride : )

Have over 450 miles of riding planned for next weekend! Then drummer should be here by then and the bike will go in for 1000 mile service.
