Im not as dumb as i may sound and im pretty sure i can get the hang of using it. I just need to know what i need and where to get it? any help will be much appreciated

ECMspy is free, you just need to build or buy a cable. American Sport Bike sells the cable pre built and tested.

So basically what this really is is like a programmer that you would use on a car or truck correct? I have the Banks palm tuner on my truck and it lets me tune the fuel, rev. limits, shift points on the tranny, etc, So this is the same general idea right?

Yes that is the basic idea, it allows you to alter the fuel map and do other adjustments such as setting the TPS.

Yea im not so worried about adjusting the fuel maps. I dont want to get in over my head, but the Tps and the diagnostics would be nice.
