The Buell arrived today! 2007 XB12S in Translucent Orange and only 5 miles on the odo.

After a quick once over to make sure things were okee-dokee, I signed the delivery papers and the driver was on his way. As I rolled the bike in the garage, I noticed that the mirrors were flapping around. Then, as I am turning the bike around I notice that the handlebars are loose!

After tightening things up I was ready to crank her up. Wouldn't you know, it would not start! It would sputter and spit, miss, choke, cough and everything else under the sun but would not stay running no matter what.

Frustrated, I picked up the phone and called my dealer, who mind you in Jacksonville, FL. I explained to him what was happening and he patched me through to their service department. I explained to the tech exactly what was going on, he chuckled and said: "Ride it like you stole it!" lol

Okay, so I get out there and try to ride it around the neighborhood. I am sure the neighbors were pleased with all the coughing and backfiring that was going on. The bike literally sounded like it was running on one cylinder! I figured I would get out on some main roads and open her up. Sure enough, same thing. Sounded horrible and jerked me around something awful.

As I approached a pretty long and steep hill, I prayed that this thing wouldn't die on me on the way up. So I accelerated and all of a sudden the bike CAME TO LIFE! It scared the snot out of me! It pulled like a freight train up the hill and whatever it was causing it to act up obviously fixed itself. The bike ran like a thoroughbred! Just to ease my mind I stopped at a local HD/Buell dealer and spoke with a couple Buell techs. They narrowed it down to a fouled plug as the culprit. The more the bike warmed up the more the plug cleaned itself to correct the problem. Now it runs and idles like a champ!

OMG guys, this thing is incredibly powerful and handles like a dream. I will post some pictures later.

Pete

Glad to hear it seemed to straighten its self out. Congratz on the new whip. I got mine back in December and had to wait to ride it till just the other day (stupid snow in the northeast). These bikes are the most fun you can have on the street on 2 wheels.

Congrats! Everybody talks about the freight train torque : p.

I havent fully opened my bike up yet and not much over 5,000rpm (only 100 miles on it, breaking it in moderatly) but compared to my R6 this thing, and the XB12R I road (did get on that thing a bit more) is pretty slow... Still faster then most cars but the R6, even well below the power band (reving under 10,000rpm) just a crack of half throttle would warp me into a space time continum. Also top gear roll ons on the buell are nothing to go crazy about, now there is power real low and its a MUCH better street bike and still way more power then one NEEDS...

I just think everybody thats overwhelmed with how hard their buell pulls, needs to ride an I4 ; ).

Now who knows maybe after break in and getting my drummer Ill change my mind and say they are on the same level but I never felt like the buell was as quick as the R6 I owned, GSX-R I road or any other bike...

Oh but it sure is 10 times more comfortable as the R6 handles just as well on the usual roads and leaves it in the dust on the really tight stuff!

Jraice, no offense, but you own a Buell now! STOP referring back to your R6, you talk way too much about it. Sorry to say, but it's kind of irritating me. Again no offense.

Congratulations Piotr!
"None yet" doesn't fit in your profile now.
We'll understand if you can't get off of it long enough to snap pictures for a day or two.

Hahahahaha but I am always comparing the two and saying the buells better?

Just did a 50 mile ride with pops really nice, Alices for dinner.

Loving the buell! Opened it up to WOT for the first time, albeit it was 3rd (or was it 4th? around 45-50mph) gear and only 3,000rpm, nice growl but not a lot of movement... Cant wait till I feel comfortable with the mileage (another couple hundred) and I open it up higher in the rev spectrum!

I road my buddies R6 once, and ya, it does have more power all around, but when i went into a turn, it was fighting me the whole way and DIDNT want to do the turn, it just kept wanting to stay upright and go straight, which is the only purpose i can see for an I4....going in a straight line

Haha yeah I hear you... they are great for a straight line but your buddies bike must've needed some adjustments or perhaps you did, the R6 is an amazing handling bike. Only place the buell competes is the ultra low speed stuff but a good pilot on the R6 could still keep up...

All the I4's handle great, and especially the 600cc class.

But I definetly think Ill have more fun with the buell!

More fun to ride a slow bike fast then a fast bike slow...

Had a great time tonight riding and look forward to many more!

I hate to get off topic here, but I agree with Boney95.

Jrice...
you posted about a hundred threads about "which is better, R6 or Buell"
or
"I am getting a buell"
or
"trade your buell for my r6"
or
"how different is the r6 from a buell"
or
"compare the seat difference between a buell and an r6"
or
"insert another stupid topic that could have been searched because it has been asked a million times, here"

you are obviously young, but, DAMN son...

I really thought this crap would end when you got the buell, but instead now I get to watch you answer your own posts with "back in the day on my r6"

grow up, and calm down.
out of curiosity, do you have any siblings?

Now, now kids... How about some pictures to make everyone happy?

The truck has arrived:

sloooow and easy does it:

The stallion is in the stable:

Back in my Army days I was fortunate enough to own a crotch rocket. It was a ZX-11. Young GI with a bike, especially a crotch rocket made sense to me. Not anymore. I enjoy seeing the scenery as I ride without having a kink in my neck after a mere 50 miles. Also, just recently, I sold a ZX-9 which confirmed my pre existing notion that I will not have another again.

I decided on the Buell because it is different .
I see all these kids around here (adults too) screaming up and down the highways on R this or X that and I am not in the least bit impressed. Sure, they own nice machines, but those arent for me. It is what it is.

I love my new Buell.

Younger sister, why?

And whatever guys I am simply stating my comparison of the bikes... If you have a problem with it, dont read my posts.

I had an R6, I now have a buell, dont see any reason not to compare them, hell it might help somebody pick the right bike to ride!
