http://www.trojan-horse.co.uk/prods/243.html A bit expensive for what it is, but I love the look... my only problem right now is the seating position, which kinda pushes the rider forward against the bars... it's great on WOT as it locks your ass in, but else it's a bit too much forward for my taste... Well, I had to add a spacer to the locking system (under the seat), to move it back a 1/4 inch, but that was it... it took about 3 minutes  The seat plugs in and out without any issues now. | ||

Wow those SCG's have really low suspension! I like the look, all together the bike is what I am doing with my own minus the seat but I do like the look! I know your bikes an 09 also (new) but are you worried about belt damage or anything with that setup? Looks so much cleaner but I worry about the protection. What gets damaged (besides being stranded) if it does fail, just the belt or other parts? With a belt being a couple hundred I might do it but I'd have to look more into what kind of problems can occure... | ||

I assume you're talking about the belt covers... The covers are there to protect you in case you crash and stick a foot in there, so if you're OK with the risk of grinding you foot to pieces, you're OK to remove them  (I don't think they're used to protect anything else, but I may be wrong). Yeah, the thought of that is not great, but looks > safety right? LOL jk.... Isn't there a lifetime warranty on the new goodyear belts? | ||

Yeah it's a bit higher, maybe half an inch... but the main change is on the angle of the seat, that's pretty drastic (too much for my comfort, so I will tweak the spacers a bit to find a middle ground). | ||

The belt guards are to prevent rocks and other debris from getting in and damaging your belt. If your belt snaps, good luck getting it replaced under warranty without the guards. When it does snap, all that happens is you coast to the side of the road. No gouging in the engine case like a chain. | ||

Interesting! I was always told different about chain/belt covers... I can't see how debris would find its way to the top part of the belt, above the swingarm, from the side... but ok... If I snap a belt, I'll put the covers back on before I stop at Harley's though lol | ||

Wavex, it doesnt have to be the top... A rock getting on the top of the bottom part of the belt will get sucked right into the rear "sprocket"... | ||

 That sprocket has about 20k of miles on it, its got chips going all around it from being run without the belt guard. I bought the bike used so I don't know when they were taken off. Those chips were caused by rocks getting sucked in, and getting wedged between the sprocket and belt. I am sure it shortened my belts life along with the obvious damage to the sprocket. As for putting the covers back on, it will be obvious you ran without the guards. Also posting pictures on the internet doesn't help. | ||

Id say like 80% of people take off there belt covers at least the ones I see pics of.I have mine off and I have owned 2 a xb9r and a xb12r and neither one had problems with them off. | ||

lookin' good Wavex! you could also sculpt the seat foam some since you have the skyline. plenty of foam to craft something new out of for a little more comfort. that was my plan for a while but never did it. As for putting the covers back on, it will be obvious you ran without the guards." my rear pulley was chipped in the same way with guard still in place. i think little stones get in and do similar damage regardless. my front pulley was all chipped up (and had to be replaced under warranty) as well. casting issue. | ||
