changed the oil last night real quick since I didn't do it since I bought it and when I took it out I rev`d 1st not to hard put it in second and layed into it and she she pulled up on me BIGTIME! I let off and it went down fine but man I wasn't ready for that. I think if i layed into it and didn't let off i would have wheelied all through 2nd..man it was fun. I didnt change the filter yet and I read the manual and it says that 15 40 diesel oil if fine fo rth engine wich I am using either rotella or delvac 15 40, can i get filters anywhere besides HArley? |

I've done that before not trying to. You'll pucker up pretty quick. When I try, I can't...go figure. As for your filter, there are quite a few that can be used. Look here. Buelltroll posted a few. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/327 77/103118.html Type oil filters into the search for message headers...you'll find quite a bit of info on filters. |

I have been using rotella t 15w40 in my bike since new and have 25,000 on it with no problems. I do change the oil more often at around 1,500 miles because i have heard that non-syntetic oils break down quicker in these hot running air cooled engines. |

thanks for the reply's guys, do i really need to tune my bike with just a jardine pipe on it, seems to run fine but it does pop a lil upon decelerating which I don't mind. Any suggestions? set the tire pressure yesterday i know stupid for me not to do so before riding it, my mistake haven't ridden in over 4 years. Anyways Im happy with the bike and for a 2006 XB12SCG for $3500 I couldn't be happier Now I just need to go to walmart and ge a filter for it and change that too. I read 2.5 quarts is that with or without the filter filled? Ill by a pro 1 filter or if Harley sells them for under 10 bux Ill buy theres |

Haha- your bike wheelied on you...that's your problem. YOU are supposed to wheelie on your BIKE! My first accidental wheelie on my Buell scared the crap out of me, and I had already done some intentional wheelies on it! I came from the high-strung sport bike world, where you have to slip the clutch and rev it a bit to wheelie, so imagine my surprise when I simply canned the throttle and up she goes! Now, however, that's just plain fun. |

2.5 quarts WITH the filter- do NOT overfill or the excess will all end up in your airbox. Be sure and pre-fill the new oil filter with fresh oil too. If you don't it takes a LONG time for the pressure to come up and the oil light to go off. NOT good for the engine. |

Scary ain't it? One of my first accidental wheelies was through a stop sign, with my busybody neighbor walking her dog. She even tried calling my folks to "report" me or something. |

On filling that filter: It will take a few minutes to get all the oil into the filter that you are supposed to put in it. Don't skimp, the extra time to do it is worth it. |

For more wheelie kicks, try sitting on a starting grid, taking off from a standing start with a bunch of other riders behind and throwing the front end up in first gear!! lol |

it's a dry sump, so i don't see how having an extra half quart would make the blow-by any worse, or get more oil into the crankcase atmosphere. maybe if the oil levels out during shutdown and floods the engine, but it'd be all back in the swingarm within seconds of start-up. i think the whole catch-can thing is silly. if the factory made it that way (and hasn't re-called it), it's not wrong/bad. so why do some spend hundreds to change it? .... beats me and power wheelies! |

I've thought the same thing, but... Experience with my '06 Lightning, '03 Wide Glide', '98 Sportster, and '07 Sportster tells me that filling the oil tank to the full mark gets oil into the air cleaner. About half way between full and add lines keeps things much cleaner. i think the whole catch-can thing is silly. if the factory made it that way (and hasn't re-called it), it's not wrong/bad. so why do some spend hundreds to change it? .... beats me The government requires the breather set up. Putting oil through the intake of the engine is not a "good" thing. Now... Back to wheelies!!! |

Its happened to me with my first Buell the X1 Millenium back in 2000. I did a wheelie across an intersection, riding it to work for the first time. I haven't done a wheelie since I was a kid on a dirt bike. When I realized I was doing one I got it down and then had the shakes Buells are Awesome machines! K |

Word of advice....if you come to Florida and get caught with the wheel in the air, it will cost you big time...first offense is $1,000.00 fine....and it goes swiftly down hill from there... And don't get caught speeding either...if you get caught going 50 over...(ok thats a lot...but WE know it's done all the time) and you go to jail....directly to jail, do not pass GO, do not collect $200.00...it is a FELONY...not a traffic violation...and oh yeah, you LOSE your bike...and permanent driving revocation for when you DO get out of jail... |

The new laws in Florida are the direct result of waterheads regularly getting creamed by stunting in traffic and running broadside into cars at 175 mph....there are a couple of places in the Tampa area where the EMS guys would park their ambulances so they could respond quicker to scrape some moron up that lost control and crashed at warp speed while wearing nothing more for armor than shorts, tank top, and joe cool sunglasses |

Too_tall You're in a parking lot on private property....tell the cops to go pound sand if they give you a hard time. I live in Fl, on a private road, and can wheelie all I want. Just don't do it on public streets. My first wheelie on my Uly suprised the crap outta me. I was turning left and rolled on the throttle kinda hard to get up to speed with the traffic. The front came up and I thought I was gonna die. There were too many things happening at once ....turning ....accelerating ......merging ....and wheelieing. I let off the gas the front came down and everything was fine. Looking back I probably looked like a squid, but in reality I was shaking in my boots. |

I remember the 1st time I wheelied my S-1. I was trying to entice Lyle Lovett into buying one and we'd been riding all day along with his cello player, John. Lyle was riding one of his BMW's that day and he led the procession. Lyle can really ride and we'd been swapping back and forth and Lyle kept staying out front. We stopped in Magnolia on our way up to Egypt-Honeah Road. I was back on my Buell when Lyle took off and I was tired of him trying to leave John and I behind. I was in a gravel parking lot and the front wheel stood right up, the wheel slid sideways, gravel sprayed everywhere, and I laid a little patch of rubber when I hit the pavement. Talk about pucker!! Thankfully Lyle's BMW didn't handle as well as the S-1 and I caught him! I'll never forget that day! |

Want to see how and do a wheelie with style check out Danny Eslick's wheelie across the finish line at fontana. My first un-intentional wheelie was not long ago. Wife and I were heading into the city getting on the freeway from a two lane on ramp, First at the light in the outside lane. Cager on the cell phone in the inside lane. When the light changed, the car, as I half-expected came completely into my lane and forced me onto the shoulder as I was laying on the horn. Almost had to kick the side of the car. When I ride with my wife on the back I ride very conservatively. However, having the car run me off the road got the adrenaline going. The car pushed me off as we were turning, When we straightened out and I finally got the driver attention, My intent was to flip off the driver an zip ahead of him. Well, I've lifted the front a bit while riding two-up but this I was right at 4k in first and I hacked open the throttle while two up. My intent was to zip ahead .. the result was me pulling a full on wheelie, the motor at full song and flipping off the driver as I went by - - - while two up. Scared the c$%p out of me. Luckily my wife was a good sport about it. Even over the intercom she didn't scream or even say anything. However, she still thinks I did it on purpose. |

Did I rear that right? You changed the oil but not the filter yet? Is there something different about a buell's dry sump compared to a jap bike (only bike I've done a change on yet) that allows you to change the filter after the oil? On every other bike I have done or seen done that would result in oil spilling all over from the filter hole! |

Luckily my wife was a good sport about it. Even over the intercom she didn't scream or even say anything. My wife's a good sport too...usually....However, I think her hand prints are still on the back of my helmet from where she slapped the $h1t out of me as we wheelied passing a combine on a rural road.
