Needless to say it was a very bad day.

We were riding staggered (3 riders) and came up to a redlight. I told the leader we needed to pull up at the next stop on the right up ahead and he said ok.
We had been launching all the redlights hard, you know, showing out a little so I did the same, except the leader was turning left ACROSS me, right after the intersection. I locked the brakes and bit the pavement, I remember thinking better to wreck my bike then wreck them both so I just threw it down and slid about 20 feet.

Thankfully the guy behind me was able to stop before running me over. I'm also VERY thankful that I was wearing full riding gear with armored jacket, gloves, etc. It could have been a lot worse.

The damage was very little. I broke the front turn signal lens, broke the shifter completely off, skinned up the the foot pegs, mirrors, etc. Not too bad.

Lesson learned: DON'T RIDE SO DEADGUMMED CLOSE!

That sucks...good to hear your ok. That has almost happened to me before. A few guys I ride with have a bad habit of changing lanes with no indication. They have almost taken me out a few times.

The bike will heal up nice...

Two types of riders, right? Those who have gone down and those who will. Welcome to the club...

That is one of the things I love about my Buell. Even after going down like that, the damage is much less than a Jap bike.
I went down myself three weeks ago except mine was at night and auto fluids were involved. I spent exactly 123 dollars on parts. Worst part of it was that somehow I managed to break my mirror off with my hand, ouch!!

SharkyTattoo has already helped me quite a bit, he set me up with a repaired shifter and even gave me a new bulb and lens cover for the blinker. Pretty straight up dude.
