My bike hasnt been running sinced last year (in storage), except for yesterdays spirited ride and a few 'great weather' days in the past....

Today nothing seemed to be wrong with the bike today except the check engine light was on all the time.. at first i wanted to take it back to the house right away, but i was confident that the light would turn itself off, and it didnt but nothing seemed to by wrong at all. i dont know maybe i neeed to get a tps reset or something

So I ask y'all (meanwhile my nose deep into my owners manual):
What are the possible roots for the check engine light???

the lamp turn on for 4sec, turns off for 4sec.... and then turns&remains on meaning; its a current trouble code.

Da Book:
'current trouble codes are those which presently disrupt motorcycle operation. refer to flowcharts for solutions.'

I didnt see it disrupt anything when riding

I think it may be the cooling fan.... after the fast ride yesterday and the small ride today, I put the bike in the garage and the fan never came on to cool the bike. the temperature in central texas is in to mid 70's

You can either use ECMspy and read the check engine codes, or jump the pins to cause the check engine light to flash the error code: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/cgibin/discus/show .cgi?tpc=32777&post=1396866#POST1396866

the trouble codes were 36 & 44:
- 36 is the cooling fan
- 44 is the bank angle sensor

alright I was right about the cooling fan and already know of a guy that probably has one I can have.. but I havent contacted him; so if not, anyone have a spare?

but im not sure how much shit I am in with this bank angle sensor, is this bad???

Check the fuse on the fan first, blown fuse will trip the light.

The BAS is what cuts off the engine in the event you take a spill.

as i was resetting the trouble codes with the 50 30sec-engine-running cycles thing
the fuse blew again on the fan.... this meaning its a shorting problem or the fan is about to die

whats the best way to get to the fan? cuz I need acess to it
the only way I can see is to unhinge the rear shock.. but this will lead to the rear end to collapse if the bike isnt supported correctly....
and I only have a rear stand so using that support system is out the window

Best way to the fan, as outlined in the service manual is to remove the shock. Your best best is to jack it up by the muffler.

everything seems fine with the fan, it has been raining all day because of a cold front, hopefully for the good days ahead the bike will settle down

Don't have a wiring diagram in front of me, but a somewhat different approach to your situation:

Is there a plug in your wiring harness that is common to both the BAS and the fan? A somewhat loose or corroded connector could be causing a change in volts or ohms that can send error codes. Perhaps the harness plug at the ECU?

And the always dreaded chaffing from the seat pan on the harness, or rubbing at the steering stem. Of course, it could be simply 2 separate problems at once, but I find it curious that the two would appear like that after sitting for some time.....

I took off the fairing to get to the Bank angle sensor last night.. gave it a few taps with the ol' wrench like the russians do
it was cold & wet at 45degrees, froze my butt off today. Took it out for a quick ride and everything is fixed, no more annoying little light

The fan does sound a bit funny, I had to take apart the whole rear end to get to it yesterday. But as of the back half of the bike, the problem is not comming from there. I bet it has to do with the fuse box wiring area, and I have a hunch of where to look. As for now i'll keep the fuses in close supply

Is there a plug in your wiring harness that is common to both the BAS and the fan?
if there is, i dont know where : D
