Head to your local GM, Ford, or Chrysler group dealers. Plenty of 400+hp coupes from everyone.

Don't bother going to a Toyota or Honda dealer, they scraped all their performance car plans. The new NSX would of been interesting.

Yea I know you can buy cheap plastic cars now that while they go fast they for shure are not muscle cars.Ill take old american muscle cars made out of steel and hard body lines over any plastic throw together aerodynamic garbage they make now.OH also they where cost efficient as oppose to the cars that cost a full 2 years salary.

Oh yea thats right, to be a muscle car you need to have horrible handling, poor safety, poor reliability, poor fuel economy, have black smoke come out the back at startup, and don't forget about the lack of basic creature comforts like radios!

Blame the government for that with the high safety, fuel economy and emissions standards. Also, you make only $12k a year? You can get a new Mustang for $24k.

Seriously you sir are
.
To think that a 2009 crap Mustang is a muscle car is a joke....Unless your talking about a 2008 Ford Mustang Shelby Cobra GT500KR.Which mind you cost way more than 24K.Also I dont think its all about safety and mpg.As for poor reliability you should stay working on computers and not try to talk about reliable to a a.s.e. master tech. that has to repair and constantly perform T.S.B.'s and recalls to new vehicles to repair all the screw ups they have from the factory.I have built and owned many old cars and motors and black smoke come out the back at startup is something that happens to all cars old and new in the right circumstances. Also many new vehicles now come without radios.

Ouch! You win! (It is rare I surrender this easily.)

Ok for $24k you get a Colbalt Turbo, much more muscle than the V6 Mustang. Well Pontiac G8 V6 is about that price too, 300hp V6....

And being a repair tech, you only see the cars that aren't working, not the other 99.9% that are fine. Just like EMTs call us organ donors, because they only see us if we aren't able to walk away from the wreck.

What new car dosen't have a radio? (Curious)
I know on the Smart, the clock is optional.

As someone who owned many muscle cars growing up, I would never consider that Trans Am a muscle car.

OK Sorry I dont know what got into me must of been one to many redbulls....

Believe it or not I actually like the cobalt turbo that thing won a bunch of awards so they cant all be wrong.I guess after working on these new cars day in and day out I have gotten a little jaded towards them and since I never have to work on my 62 nova other then upgrading things to go faster. The cars that dont come with radios I know theres like 3-4 more but I cant recall them at this point. But the ones I do remember are the Subaru Wrx Sti,Fortwo, and the miata.Mind you the majority of the cars with no radio are performance cars but I know you can get eco cars with no radio if you want.

The most expensive muscle cars came with fiberglass hoods and fenders. Mustang shelby gt500kr, Pontiac super dutys, ect. I thought the new GTO was the original muscle car concept. Light weight plain jane comuter car with a big ass engine in it. Think original

The old SS (supercharged) was quite good. A mini-muscle car, it was quick in a straight line, although it became a ball of understeer when the road went bendy. But the new SS (turbo) is better.

quote:

Torque steer was mostly a nonissue, with the suspension tuning, the power-steering programming, and a computer program that uses steering-wheel angle to dial back available torque combining to keep the wheel from yanking itself from our hands.

That Cobalt SS got some pretty nice Saab parts... Looks like a fun little car, though when you can get 2001 Saab 9-3's in great condition for $6000 - $7000, I don't know why you would not buy one of those instead...

The torque steer is a hoot... Whenever I whack the throttle I automatically yank the wheel left now! : )

Naaa... I betcha Buell's gold wheels and a few other details were drawn from Ducati.
Ducatis arrived as red motorcycles with gold (err, 'translucent amber') wheels in 1980:

Way before the 1980, Ducati was building motorcycles with 'racing stripe' and fly screens, too:
