The RF-1000 is what I wear 99% of the time.

Sorry about the comsmo fellas! Its the lady friends. Anyways, I have only owned KBC and HJC helmets. I think HJC is made a bit better but KBC designs are always top notch. I would love to try a shoei or an icon but I have a hard time dropping 300 plus on a helmet.

I have a hard time dropping less than 300 on the thing protecting my head when it drops onto pavement...YMMV though. Scorpion EXOs are a good balance IMO.

Mine is currently an Arai though...got a sweet deal from a parts person I know.

Remember, just because it costs more doesn't always make it better.

Very true -- I am more interested in the certifications and the ergos. I wouldn't actually recommend an Arai these days since they haven't really made an improvements, its still a top quality helmet but others have caught up in the last few years.

That's why I say Scorpion -- meets both Euro and US standards, decent price, good venting and ergos even in their entry EXOs...YMMV though.

So true. Years ago seemed like everybody had Arai or Shoei. Lots of other, quality choices out there now.

Scorpion EXO is a great helmet for the price, but to some extent you get what you pay for. My biggest gripe with my Scorpion is the notches that I can't just open the visor a crack for a bit of ventilation. The first notch holds it open more than I would like. For the price difference from an Arai I can deal with that.

I do wonder by just how much a helmet "meets or exceeds" a given standard though. It would be more informative to have a rating scale rather than a pass/fail standard.

Sifo,
Here is some different testing results on some helmets (UK).

The SCU and I are attending the 2009 Porsche Launch this morning . . . . I've convinced her that she is the "color consultant". Think these will help?

Dentguy - Thanks for the link. Exactly what I had in mind. Still not much detail, but far more information than simply meeting a minimum standard. Certainly shows that you don't always get what you paid for. Also some pretty cheap helmets score quite well.
