Hey all,

Ill be taking delivery of my 12 soon (only 8 more weeks!!) and cant decide whether to leave her stock and ride it, or do some mods.....All of the mods on the 12 really dont impress me much (they dont come out nearly as good as the 9's do after mods)...and I worry about that exhaust valve, and removing it. I would like at least a little more noise though, but that means a factory race kit, and it leaves a flat spot in the torque curve without the valve....All the other pipes are WAY too loud for me to tour with, without hurting my ears long term...

Long story short, any suggestions on mods for the 12's that are must haves?

Thanks alot,

Jack

JooJoo, My humble recommendation is to just get out and ride that sucker then decide if you really need to modify anything. Of course going with a KN air filter never hurts anything and will save you money in the long run. Also, If it is an S. Get rid of that stinking tail section. That is also just my opinion, but come on, that thing is U.G.L.Y.

Morgan

PS, I have a 9S so I am not knocking the bike.

Hi,i'm a proud owner off a black XB12R and i put a "drummer" exhaust,racr-ecm and filter on it.The sound and performance are very good,no dip in the torque like the factory race-can and
a smoother sound(less loud and deeper)the bike goes realy well!Have fun with yours!

Dblhaulxb9s,

Is there any gain in power from the KN air filer?

Thanks,

Jack

Joojoo I have a Drummer on a 12 and it is and i repeat not any louder then any race kit on a 9 or a 12.Its much smoother sounding. The bike performs much much better with the drummer on then stock with the valve.I swear its awesome.Dollar for dollar a bargain.

JooJoo, as an owner of a 12S, ride it first. Then think about what you feel you need to do.

First mod you need to do is get rid of the D207's and get a better tire.

After that, ride it like you stole it and figure out what you want to do with it

Perhaps try out Shawn Higbees suspension guide too, that'll improve the bikes handling (for the better) and it don't cost nowt to do

87 inch Nallin stage 3, aerocharger, and a nitrous setup for a start, then go on from there.
might need to run a chain drive when you get over 140 horsepower, for durability. also then you can gear it a bit taller, so top speed wont be rpm limited. have fun and keep us posted.

Congrats on the new bike. You will love it. Mine is all stock for now too. I`m thinking about the Drummer exhaust, looks hard to beat if you like alot of torque and some extra horses.
