Just got a call from the service tech at the dealership and he advised me that these were the tires on my bike. I asked for the new pirellis they are putting on all XB bikes including the 1125. He claims these are the new 207s and are great tires. Anybody got any knowledge about them? I know the stock 207s in 03 were crappy. | ||

Sound like BULL from the dealer. I would insist on the Pirellis. I had a hard time at the dealer when I wanted to put the Pirellis on my bike. "We only use Dunlop" I had to point out that the Pirellis were, at the time, original equipment on the 9X The had none in stock (lots of the Dunlops) I had to wait to have them delivered. The original Dunlops were a TOTAL waste, I threw them away with less than 1000 miles on them. I will never put them on my bike. | ||

Thanks Old Man, I just went to a tire site and they are they same exact design now as they were then. All the new Buell Firebolts have Pirelli Corsa IIIs on them. I told them that I wanted my bike to have the same tires. I guess what they are really trying to say when they said they're really good and new is that they don't have what I asked for in stock. | ||

Snack Almost any modern sport bike tire will be fine on your bike, with one exception: The Dunlop 207. This was possibly the most hated tire ever fitted to a Buell, and I don't think they have been making them for years. Dunlop does make a fine tire for the Buell now, the Qualifier. Harley dealers have a real bad habit of lying to their Buell customers. Here is how you can tell when they are doing it: Their lips are moving !!  | ||

You know, you don't have to buy the tires from the dealership, motorcyclesuperstore.com always has good deals, or wherever else that is cheaper. The dealership will install tires, even if you did not buy them there. | ||

The dealership will install tires, even if you did not buy them there I would never do that again. I had the Buell dealer install my first set of Metzlers.- For some reason neither tire ever held its' air pressure for long. | ||

Not so. I tried three H-D dealers and they all have the same line "We only install tire we sell" Seems that they don't want to take a chance on scratching a rim or being blamed for anything else I was told. I think they just don't want to mess with a Buell. | ||

Don't touch the 207/208 with a ten foot pole. That is far-and-away the primary culprit in the XB's strong strong tendency to resist turn-in (and to "stand up") during braking. The tire uses a profile that is dreadfully incompatible with the XB's rather extreme geometry. I don't know if the latest round of Dunlops are any better. But just to play it safe, I avoid Dunlops for my Buell entirely. Best bet is Pirelli. Very neutral profile. | ||

The Qualifier is what was on there, but they don't sell them there and won't install a tire brought in. What are they still doing with a new 207? No new Buell comes with that tire. I work two jobs and don't have the time to tinker with the fixing aspect of my bike, but I will have to make time and stop depending on Harley. More often than not my experience has been that they are not passionate about this brand of bike. No one there must ride these bike, as they are suggesting a tire that is not the best, but think is best. They also knew nothing about any of the latest XB recalls or fixes. They still have a new 03 XB9R on the floor for sale for $7500. | ||

The great thing about the 207's is that they last forever. The suck goes on, and on, and on, and on..... You could always go with a profile like this:  Probably work better. | ||

I just bought my first set of Pirelli's last week.My first set was stock Dunlops.Then I had a set of Bridgestone Battlax.Now I have Pirelli's.When I need another set I will only settle for the Pirelli's.If they do not want to sell you, as the buyer what you want, go somewhere else.btw:Pirelli Diablo Corsa or Strada two thumbs up!!!!!! | ||

My dealer installed a Pirelli Scorpion Sync that I got online. They didn't care. Actually they had a brand new service writer that day, and he tried to tell me I needed tubes. I just looked at him, said "Oh ok" and quietly snuck off to the Buell guy at the parts counter to make sure I wasn't going nuts  | ||

My 08 XB12 came with Pirellis and you could see steel belts down the center of the rear in less than 1000 miles. I saw other Buells at my dealership including two Blasts with the same results. Maby it was just a bad batch of tires but I now have a set of Dunlop Roadsmart tires on it and I love them, they even work well for track days. I buy them else where and my Harley dealer installs them with nary a complaint. | ||

Dunlop came out with a new version of the qualifier a little while back. Currently its what I have on my bike now, they are alot better than the older qualifiers or the 207s. So far they are not bad. The 207s look like they are the old qualifiers which definitely were bad. | ||

Wear is a highly subjective topic, enormously dependent upon usage/habits, but generally, soft sport tires are gonna wear fast on a sportbike; no defying physics. Anyhoo, neither here not there. I just figured we were focusing on compatibility based upon handling ills, and the Dunlop 207/208 is notoriously guilty on that count. Anecdotally, Pirelli seems to be the best choice for enhancing the Buell's handling strengths. Pirelli has quite a palette of tires to choose from, according to one's usage. For street, everything from the Corsa III on the extreme sport end to the Strada for touring/commuting duty. I'm not a Pirelli salesman, but they do work well on the XB, and there's something for everyone there. Just my $0.02. | ||

There is nothing wrong with a 207/208, they just don't work well on XBs.
