Nice! I love the idea of accent lighting inside the translucid airboxes. Now if only toy could tie them to the engine timing to make them pulse when the cylinders fire.....

I hooked up my airbox LED the other day...and will have the airbox on here in a few days. I Had a translucid box....but I have gone to large air inlet cuts in the box for performance....with the LED's lighting the back of the box...so as you see the bike at night it gives the inlets a glowing effect.

Maryland law changed to allow bikers to use LEDs as long as they're not blue or red. Been thinking about an orange kit from Joe-Florida when I get my repaint.

Ozzie, can't see your pics, there just red X's.

I don't have any pics...but I've done the same with orange. The best ones I've found are here }http://customdynamics.com/Images/extreme_step_03.j pg

One my 9r, I placed one under the airbox so it glows out the air induction and one other under the tail pointing down. It shines out the holes on each side of the tail and looks pretty cool. Haven't decided if I want any more yet.

I wouldnt buy anything other than LED strips, pod lights do not work out as good as strips do
LED strips are smaller overall in size compared to pod lights, so they can hide in tight areas to light up what pods cant

The strips that I use: come within a weather proofed plastic tube, this tube is a bit cumbersome.. the strips wern't as flexible as they could be.. So I removed the tube to have the strips open to the elements.... this sounds like a bad idea that will short circuit the whole LED setup, but infact if you wire them all correctly to a master switch.. nothing bad can happen.... So if the weather is bad, nothing will short circuit the lights because they are all controlled by a correctly wired master switch

How to wire:
since the bike's is all connected to the negative battery terminal, aka its grounded... it wouldnt be helpful to connect the master switch to the negative battery loop.. instead hook up the switch to the positive loop, and nothing will be turned on unless the switch says so.. this is of course is for the open to the elements version ; )

Accent lighting isn't illegal per se in most locals, it just depends on the colors and the direction the bulb points, or so a local Motorscooter officer explained it to me. I was asking specifically about red and such for use on my Midnight Black/Cherry Bomb Red 12R.

I wouldn't suggest lighting the bike up like a christmas tree based on this explination, but look at your local laws, you may be able to get lights by on a technicallity, "yes officer the lights are red, but they face rearward".

In my area he also said the cops have much bigger things to worry about than some accent lighting on bikes, a dickhead may stop ya for it, but most wouldnt.

Cars are a different story with 50 ft of strip lighting on every panel of the car.

In Wisconsin its ilegal to run with these on. Sure you can mount them and have them on while its idling, but when running its a big no-no. Alot of out-of-staters were getting drilled for this over the 105th.

Illinois doesn't like lights.

They also forbid strippers to be "clean shaved" if you know what I mean.

The light I posted was the best for my application. Ochoa...it's always been hit or miss for me with strips. I end up having single led's in the strip go dead on me.

I install accent lighting for people on the side from time to time and have had great results with these...

I've done about 5 H/D's with these recently. The light output is beautiful shining down on the chrome.

I stuck some LEDs in the box and under the seat. Not the best pic but it looks alright.

the color of the strips seemed a little washed out, thats why i just used 4in1 leds....plus they are alot more manageable to install cuz of their minute size

Dpmcinti13 you must be a single guy because there is no way that you're married with a bike in the house. My wife would kill me if I did that.

Here's the Boogeylights LED kit I'm installing on my X1. I'll still need to wire up the pushbutton on/off switch as well as the remote on/off switch. I still have 2 15-LED strips left. One will go on the rear shock and shine on the ground, the other will go under the upper belt guard and shine on the rear wheel. The lights are a little more purple in person.. sort of like a blacklight.

This strip is stuck inside a recess on the bottom of the lower fork clamp, and shines on the front fender.

This is taken from about where the intake would be. The strip you see on the top is stuck to the frame, the middle strip is on the bottom of the fuel tank, and the one on the bottom is on the bottom of the battery tray.

These are the same strips as the previous pic, but from the right side of the bike. The plug wires are the orange ones from Ironmachine and they look amazing under the LEDs. Yet again, the camera really doesn't do it justice but the top picture in this post shows the wires glowing quite a bit next to the front tire.

These are the strips I put on the tank. The kit came with 3M tape on the back of all the LED strips, and in this case I superglued the wire to the bottom of the tank to keep it from touching the rocker box covers.

There are also 2 3-LED strips illuminating the white painted tank through the nostrils in the tank cover.

Here in Oklahoma it is a violation to have any colors besides White /Amber on the front and red/amber on the back. The highway patrol can write a citation for impersonating an emergency vehicle, which is a very heavy fine. Those pics look really cool with those bikes lit up but too much work for something I could only use when the bike was parked.

Already talked to a highway patrolman about them. He said that nobody will cause any problems as long as the bulbs aren't showing and the colors aren't red, green, blue, or amber.

The conversation actually started with the guy complimenting me on the lights. Different bike and different lights, but those were the same color as this kit.

Yes but what does the OKlahoma department of transportation rule book say about it?I'm sure that the patrolman you were talking to isn't the only one out there on the roads.I already have gotten a ticket for little bitty green lights on my car.$183.00 fine.In Oklahoma by a highway patrol.Happy riding.

Anyone got any full fairing led pics? I'm wondering what orange strips or pods will look like when placed in/behind my Hal's full fairing.

Recently installed a few LEDs on the 'bolt just enough to make the race can as well as the carbon airbox/delete really shine.
