yeah my cityx was awesome....especially after riding a couple of my friends jap bikes....i welcomed the torque and position for incity driving |

My 12 gets down right HOT on some days. There were a few rides I literally had to keep my right knee pointed out in an effort to keep my thigh away from the frame. Stop and go traffic / Florida summer heat. I constantly check my oil had the 1K service done by the dealer and use 93 octane premium fuel, yada yada yada. It just seems to be the nature of the beast. |

I wouldn't say HOT, or even that's it's an issue, but it's there, no where near as bad as my TLS was, but more than my Bandit. Like I said, on a hot summer day, it's noticeable. |

After 20 years of test riding Buells and getting an '09 Blast for my wife last summer I finally bought an '09 XB9SX on 2/1. I prefer the softer yet still ever present feel of the motor compared to the harsher 12. This machine is a natural step form my '88 Hawk GT and '01 SV650. |

sorry, forgot my stats, 5-6 & 280lbs, I displace a bit of the rear shock, it handles it fine, even off road. |

I test drove the 05 CityX today.
1) I love the chassis and the suspension (the dealer set it up for my weight). It simply had a tight and solid feel better than any of the bikes in my stable.
2) The motor is different than what I'm used to, but I could get used to it. She doesn't accelerate well nor have impressive top gear roll-ons, but I knew that going in. The motor was neither a negative nor a positive.
3) The vibration is what got to me, especially when just traveling around below 4K rpm (e.g. top gear on the highway). This was most noticeable on my left foot. Now 34 years of diabetes and the resulting neuropathy have made my fee oversensitive to vibration, but my other bikes don't put my feet asleep, but this one was on the verge of doing so, especially the left foot. I'm not sure I can put up with that over a whole day. |

It sounds like the Buell is not a bike you would be happy with.
If I were you I'd look elsewhere. |

I have an 03 XB9S and only noticed vibration in the bars, which I cured with a "Bar Snake" and "traction grips".
I don't notice any vibration in the pegs.
I find it has more acceleration than I will ever need.- I do use the gearbox. |

Walt, too bad it numbed your foot. From talking to you today it sounded like you really liked a lot about the bike. Maybe you should try a xb12X for a much longer seat to footpeg distance. Try mine next time your up here. Maybe it's the angle that really annoyed your foot.
From what Walt was telling me it sounds like his demo bike had the firebolt pegs on it. |
