Ok...so I can get a true race ECM (for my 08 12r) from Buell (have a license) or I can use ECMSPY. What are the pro / cons other than price...race ecm is expensive.

The race ECM from Buell for the 08+ is fully tunable and adjustable and comes with all the software you need.

ECMspy is a little crippled on the 08+ ECMs as you need to do some hex coding to change settings. I have no first hand experience with the 08 Race ECM but in theory that is the better route to go.

But not difficult with available software and a lot cheaper.

I assume you're working with a dealer who will order your race module and software for you? (You can't order directly from Buell Racing). You are talking about putting it on a legit race bike, right? If not, you're asking a dealer to misrepresent the purchase to Buell Racing in order for you to get the Race Module. That's between you and your dealer...

The ESMSpy system allows you to use the "stock" module so that your ECM can still be read by the Digital Technician that all HD/Buell technicians have in the shop... not true with the official race module.

Either one will require dyno tuning to get the maps pulled/pushed to match your engine configuration.

Neither option is "cheap" unless you get a buddy with the identical engine/intake/exhaust to give you a set of maps.

It's only for racing...I have other toys for the street.
