So im looking into doing some trackdays come spring/summer.. But in part of the rules you have to either remove or tie up the kickstand... which i understand.. So im looking for a rear stand to hold my bike up while its in the pit area. I have a '08 XB12R. What stands would fit it?

Mostly any stand. All the stands that I've run across are adjustable to your swing arm width, or if you use spools. Pitbull, T-Rex, the list goes on...

Or the cheap way out - 2 jackstands and a piece of rebar, through the rear axle : )

We recommend the Pit Bull SS Rear Stand Combo as it will work with spools and has pads for the swing arm available through many of BadWeb's fine sponsors:

A spool is used for quick and convenient rear lifts of your bike with a stand. They bolt up through your rear axle. Also serve as a axle slider. Visit www.darkhorsemoto.com, a sponsor here.

Any rear stand will work for your bike.

If you use spools that mount through the axle you can not remove the axle or wheel whilst on the stand. I use the other side (with the rubber) and they work great.

Ya i just plan on using it for trackdays.. nothing to where im going to be removing wheels... just need to hold the bike up while my kickstand is tied up in place. so i guess i wont be using spools since i dont have any sliders on my bike.. just need a stand that will fit the swingarm and life the back of the bike and hold it there while parked in the pit area.

If I was planned on racing or doing track days, I would have sliders on my bike for sure.

You'll probably end up pulling your rims and tires at the track also. Tire changes at the track are cheap!!

Definately get sliders, you see all the cheap swingarms on Ebay right ? For what it's worth...the track is like Heroin ! You will become an addict and you will neglect family and friends to feed your habit.

Bro, spools are not a part of a stand. Click on this link http://www.darkhorsemoto.com/html/sliders.html And scroll down to the Signature Series Race Ready Axle Sliders.

This should clear everything up for you. The stand that you get will have the option to lift the bike from underneath the swing arm or from a spool. The gap you see on those sliders is where the lifting arm/attachment on your stand fits so you can lift the bike. These axle sliders serve as one, an axle slider and spools.

You should also think about getting some sliders for your forks, and if you don't have frame pucks, get those also. Its only a matter of time before you dump it on a track.

Darkhorsemoto does sell Pit Bull stands, so you can buy all of this stuff from one vendor. Just a note, Pit Bulls are top of the line stands.

Be sure if you are getting the rear stand for tire changes that you understand that
the spools on the through the axle sliders will not allow you to remove the rear wheel.

They will work great for tire warmers though.

the universal (under the swingarm) rear stands work perfectly for rear tire changes,
but there are some issues with stability, the bike can move forward or back if you are
not set up on a perfectly flat surface. I have seen bikes hit the deck because of this.

If possible have a pair of threaded bosses welded onto the underside of the swingarm to
allow permanent install and use of standard swingarm spools.

If you look at most race bikes they are set up in this fashion because it works.

Hal's swingarm

While this one is not on my bike I have the hal's chain conversion on my bike and it has
this type of spool boss on it.

Something to consider for racing purposes.
