I did a search but didn't find what I needed. I am trying to replace my rear tail signals. I am looking to use an end connector and not splice in stuff. So far the rear tail lamp is removed and I can't seem to see how I can get to the bolt on the turn signal lamp not to mention working on the wire. Then I removed the seat but still can't seem to get to it. Then, I tried to remove the plastic tray under the passenger seat but it just won't come. I tried to removed the white rear faring but the lock is connnected. What is the proper procedure for getting to the rear electrical...pic please as well. Thanks for any help and if I missed a previous thread, please point me to it. Thanks again.

You can do it one of two ways.

The little plastic tray does come out, but it's a royal pain in the arse. If I remember correctly, there are tabs on each side that you need to pull in, then work it up. It tends to catch on everything, so it takes quite a bit of work.

I think the body work will come off without having to remove the lock. Undo all the bolts holding it in place and then flex it out around the lock. The cable will be attached, but you still should be able to pull it backwards some, then come up off the tail, leaving the cable in place.

The first time it's tricky to figure out - once you've done it it's easy.

Yes, remove the plastic tail piece.
If it's like the 1125R, it's just five screws (not including the seat screws) holding it on.

Once the plastic is off there is room to remove/install signals.

Metalstorm, did you have to remove the rear seat lock mechanism or will your 1125 come off with it on?

No, lock stayed on. Nothing else came off.

My buddy has an 1125R and he needed to replace the left rear turn signal.

First he removed the seat followed by the pillion seat.

Then it was just a few screws and the whole plastic tail piece lifted right off.

It took only 5-10 minutes to get it off.

I imagine it's the same for the Bolt since the tail sections are the same.

The locking assembly should be part of the under pan, not the cosmetic plastic tail piece and not an interference.

I could be mistaken but when I moved the plastic outer piece the lock moved too. Its a cable design and therefore does not have a rigid mounting point. I expected the outer plastic piece to come off without the lock but it appears to be attached. Will try to get it off tonight.

the lock is mounted to the plastic. just spread the tail a part by where the passenger pegs bolt up. at the same time slide it (while spreading) to the rear of the bike.

it will only be attached by the cable to the lock. balance the tail piece on the front of your bike. or pop the spring clip that holds the lock in place.

in this pic, you can see the cable. it has plenty of slack to work the plastic tail piece off.

sorry. it is the only pic i have of the rear of the bike taken apart.

Thanks for the pic...It's freezing cold up here in MI and I don't have a heated garage so I had some trouble with the outer plastic. Just still felt connected but I only had a few minutes to work on it last night. I will try working the plastic a little at the passenger foot peg mounts and see if it won't wiggle free.

Thanks everyone for your assistance. I was able to get year rear body off...just had to wait for it get above freezing for a few minutes in my garage and I had no issues removing the body while keeping the lock attached. Now, I am installing the signals and will post pics once I'm done.
