Grips, not gripes... Hey, I was thinking about changing the grips on my FireBolt, was looking for something softer than the stock grips... Don't want anything too fat as I've got smaller hands...
Has anybody changed your grips and what too??? Did you have to lose the 'bar ends'???
Thanks, Kevin

Kevinfromwebb,
Believe me you want the Buell traction grips!!
They're priced right, under $20.00 and you will feel a noticable difference. I had them on my M2 and when I got the 12 I installed them immediately.
It's a great, inexpensive ugrade.

I am partial to the Galindo SUPERBIKE grips, I have no idea how many years I have used them or how many two wheeled rides I have put them on. I do know for $9 average they are hard to beat for a soft grip that doesn't rip up bare hands.

Dare to be different & throw a set of these badboys on.

I have a set on my Dyna & they are actually pretty damn comfy. Just dont try to ride on a cold day with no gloves..wow do they ever get cold.

Actually Wycked is right, the Galindo SUPERBIKE grips are hard to beat. I bought the gel grip ones for my X1 & love em.

As an alternative why not try Renthal grips, they come in soft/medium/hard compounds, they cost about £6 here in the UK.I use the medium and find them "just right" the soft tend to tear after awhile and the hard are just that HARD!.

You'll need to either fit the OE Buell plastic bar-ends back on or an after-market variety.

I've been using the Traction grips for about 7 months now, they work great, Only small tears showing after about 18K on them.

Traction grips are good, but at $16 a bit pricey. You can usually find Galindas at your local honda/whatever dealer for about $7-8.

Thanks for the help... I'm out of town but when I get back in I'll check with one of the local accessory shops and see what they've got and what they 'feel' like, if I don't like what I see I'll give ya a yell, Bubba...
A side note, I was up at a shop looking at the palm throttle rest deals(throttle boss or whatever) and the sales guy was also showing me some chrome type grips that would fit the Buells he said... IMO, chrome grips would look good on a cruiser but on a FireBolt??? NOT...

Thanks, Kevin

You can pull the bar ends off with a pair of channel locks, they do not seem to be reusable. The Buell bar ends are basically plastic plugs that are pressed into the bars. One of mine fell out during a ride and I bought replacements at the dealer, they were a little over $5.00 for a pair. Next time I will buy the weighted type.

The chrome grips do look good on the "S" models in an aggressive streetfighter way, but I tend to ride without gloves and don't like the feel on bare palms.

I tried the Buell traction grips and cut them off after a couple of days. They are tapered very high in the center and it put a lot of pressure on the palm (and carpal nerve). Nice $10 Pro Grips have been glued on since.
