I finished up this project today.
I painted the rails and the tail section black. I am still torn between black and silver... but i can always change it if I get excited about it.

anyways...
here are the completed pictures (i think these lights are plenty bright):

the license plate frame and light modulator will be here tomorrow.
the plate frame has led's at the top to light the plate.
the modulator will allow me to run the lights as blinkers, brakes & running lights.

i will post a vid once i get the modulator installed.

The tail lights look great! Please dont take any offense but I think the black needs to look more flat to match / blend in IMHO.

None Taken. I agree. The black was "krylon satin black," but it has way too much shine to it.

lots of winter left for me to get it right. i just keep thinking about doing this:

i will order some frame paint from Al if i decide to do it.

then it will match... i just cannot decide between the black and silver... b/c the blue plastics will be gone very soon.

where'd you get the Dual Lights??? Is it an aftermarket item or a custom job?? Looks great man! My opinion, the Black looks great the way it is!...makes the small tail look even smaller.

First off it looks great.where did you get those lights you made the tail with I have been looking all over for some just like that to do the same.Closest I have found dont have as many leds so there not as bright. If you made your own circuit board and leds set up yourself what components did you use.

I ordered the lights. They are FIA approved rain lights for racing. Not DOT approved.

I took the old dremel to the tail piece and hacked out the inside of it so the lights would fit. I made a bracket to mount them up.

once i get the modulator, i can use them as brake, turn and running lights.

thanks for the compliments.

the lights are made by Precision Race Services. You can purchase them from their distributors.

really, really, really easy to take the rails off IF you have the right tools.

if you don't have the right tools, it will be a pain in the butt.

Froggy from previous advice you've givin me, you seem to be more mechanically inclined than I. Expect questions regarding this later..
If you don't mind.

I am not really mechanically inclined, but trust me it was easy. undo a handfull of screws, make sure all the electronics are are unplugged, yank the battery, yank whatever else you can, undo the 4 bolts by the frame and your good. Easy part is taking it off, hard part is going to be putting it back together. : )

Those lights are awesome looking. When I had my 9SX I always wondered why they would build such a beautiful machine and finish it with a tail light out of a truck shop bin. Oh well, make that light legal and you got something great there!

Hurray for another threadjack, its my dad's chopper, he built it in 96, I don't know mutch about it other than its carbed (so I can't figure out how to start it), supercharged, and has a big ass front wheel (24"?).
I need to roll it outside when it gets nice for better photos
