I have not seen any evidence to suggest that AFV is reset by Open Loop Enrichment (this doesn't mean to say that it isn't).

I have the twin tec, and it went on the dyno.
It was adjusted, and the ECM kept adjusting it back, regardless of revs.
It can be used to adjust the idle tho!
However, it does appear if you disable, or remove, the O2 sensor, the tuner can be used. I'll give this route a look and see if those of us who have bought a tuner can salvage the cost.

Well I must say that is rubbish. Whoever designed the thing needs to go on a course to learn how the control system works... There are plenty of ways to make such a piggyback work better than that. I should send it back and sue them...

Does anybody know how long it takes before the ECM relearns? I have put a few hundred miles on my bike with that tuner and it funs fantastic. No complaints.

That's exactly the task of OL learn :-)

OL enrichment is static and active in all OL regions, except WOT (where it's replaced by WOT enrichment). OL learn is dynamic and is active in OL and WOT regions above the CL region and gets triggered, as soon as the ECM discovers a permanent lean condition for longer than a specified time (3 seconds IIRC). AFV is then increased by the AFV increase factor. AFV will never get decreased through OL learn.


Say I want to keep my open loop learn working, but don't want the o2 and ego active in closed loop. Do you see a problem with setting the 02 activation to a tps setting above closed loop and disabling the trouble code 13 that would be set? I all ready tried setting the tps for o2 activation above closed loop and it ran much, much, much smoother in the closed loop area, but it set a code 13 or o2 open or inactive.

While i'm on the subject, is the tps setting for O2 activation in 8 bit or %?

To eliminate surging of course. The bike surges slightly between 3-4k rpms, mostly noticeable in 2nd gear. It was almost gone when I disabled the 02 in that range. I will data log for a richer AFR and then disable the o2. The bike doesn't surge outside closed loop, so it's pretty obvious that the 02 and resulting ego correction is causing it.

I set the o2 activation to a TPS of 60 and it most certainly did set a trouble code 13 after a 20 minute ride.

I'll try increasing the front map by 10% in closed loop and report back the results.

Been there, done that - won't help. The map needs to be perfect and well balanced front-rear to eliminate surging, and that's not the case. Sure you get a DTC. The map is not stoich, so you get an error code sooner or later, depending on the current spot an always-rich or alway-lean exception is thrown. I also think rising the O2 activation TP that it lies inside the CL region is not a good idea. Better to move the lower CL boundary in that case.
