Hello Everybody My name is Tom and I am new to the board. I have been riding motorcycles for 28 years and I just bought my first Buell-- a leftover 07 Super TT from the local HD/Buell shop. Up till now I have cut my teeth on Japanese machinery but I have wanted a Buell for a long time and so I got one. I love my Super TT so far-- the torque is AMAZING but I get the heebie jeebies when I read posts on Badweb about about Buell weak spots like front rotor problems, electrical problems, fouled plugs and oil leaks. So, it seems I have decision to make. Should I ride the snot out of my bike for the next two years and let the warranty fix whatever goes wrong, or, should I ride my bike sparingly with the theory that less miles equals less stuff that can break? Perhaps I have just been spending too much time looking up stuff on Badweb  . Are there any other 07 Super TT owners who have racked up some miles on their bikes? What does the Badweb audience say on this one? | ||

Hey Bensteinsbuell, Ride the snot out of it. Often. These bikes are quite reliable (I have four of them). It's the same old thing...The good we do, never remembered. The bad...Never forgoten. No-one posts that their bike is running well, they only post when it's down. Welcome to the insanity...you'll love it. | ||

Ride-ride-ride! It's no fun when you're not. I've only got 5K on my scg, but only problem was a bad exhaust valve actuator and a loose blinker wire. The wire was prolly from me fiddling around. | ||

Hello Tom Welcome to the BadWeB!! You may never be just right again. I don't have an 07 Super TT but I always have an opinion. In the knowledge vault and all the need help sections the only ones you hear from are those with problems. The many who didn't have a problem don't start a thread to say their bike didn't have a problem that day. It's a bit one sided. Relax you didn't buy it to look at it (I could be completely wrong, but I know what I would do) I vote SNOT!!!! Rotzaruck!} | ||

Ride the crap out of it! If something goes wrong..... do a search on it on Badweb... If ya don't find the info ya need... Just ask.... this place is GREAT! (FYI... You will catch more bee's with honey) I may be wrong, but I think Buell has had the lowest cost of ownership for the last 4 or 5 years.... and put March Badness on your "Events to go to" list | ||

Ride it. They seem to be happier if they don't sit for extended periods. Fouled plugs? Don't start it unless you're gonna ride for at least 15 minutes. Leaks? Let it warm up before you de-snot it on the ride. It's *air* cooled, stuff has to swell a bit to seal right. Rotors? Never experienced it myself, but from what I've read a change of pads can de-gank the rotor and rid the bike of the pulsing. Electrical problems? Keep a full battery (the >15 minute ride rule helps this too). *If* you have an issue, Buell's warranty is one of the best out there. Congrats on the TT - one of the best Buells ever made, ruined by less-than-stellar marketing. Welcome to the World Of Torque  | ||

Mate, welcome to the board. I've an 08 Long that I got in August, and it's got 7300 kays (near 4800 miles). Have not had any dramas with it at all. It actually seems to be getting better, the looser the motor gets. So, if you think the torque's good now, wait till after 3500 miles: it'll blow your mind! | ||

Ride the snot out of it. Look at the numbers. Only a few of all the Buell owners come to the boards/forums with issues. Only a few of the members actually have issues. Some of those issues are following periods of inactivity. Some of the issues are low rpm issues. Put her into 4200 rpm and listen to her sing. | ||

Welcome Tom! The Super TT is a wonderful bike. I'd ride the heck out of it, have fun and if you have a problem simply fix it and repeat. Badweb pretty well assures that any problem will be a snap to get past. I'll be eager to hear your comments. I think the TT was one of the better bikes Buell ever fielded. It's an unlimited mileage warranty. The more miles you put on the better deal you're getting. Seriously ride the snot out of the bike. If you have problems 2 years down the road, after the warranty expires, we will help you fix them. | ||

Ride it like you stole it. I've got an 09 Ss which has the same suspension as your TT. Had a stupid exhaust valve actuator problem within the first two weeks of ownership, but after a week and a half of the dealer scratching their collective heads, it was figured out and no problems since. Approaching 4,000 miles since late Aug. Nothing other than an oil change and (lots of) fuel since brand new. As others have said, the warranty allows unlimited mileage- don't beat on it obviously, but ride the hell out of it. The more miles you put on, the more bang for the buck you're getting. | ||

My son's got an 07' STT and likewise picked it up as a leftover. Has about 7K miles and has been flawless. Ride the heck out of it. It's a great bike. | ||

I have an 08 TT that I bought new in March. It now has 12.8k miles on it including 2 months of downtime while it was sitting in the service department. So yeah, I ride the snot out of it. I've had it in the shop multiple times, but to Buells defense most of my problems were dealer induced and NOT Buells fault. SO, I will list problems so far that I feel are Buells fault: 900miles: Front rocker box leak. Dealer wouldn't fix under warranty so I kept riding. 5000miles: Rear Rocker Box spewing oil everywhere. They finally fixed it along with the front. ALso the turn signals stopped working. Turned out it was a bad wire in the wiring harness. Transmission breather hose melted to exhaust header. Dealer replaced. (Enter the 2 month dealer service saga) Next I got a mysterious check engine light. The code was for the fuel pump and exhaust valve. Dealer fixed exhaust valve, but I believe it was an error caused by the dealer, not a defect from Buell. They reset the codes and no more codes since. 7000miles: Headers have some rust. Muffler badly rusted. Front rocker box weeping oil. 12.8k miles: front rocker box still weeping oil. ALso an oil leak behind primary cover, for some sensor or wiring, but I can't remember what exactly it is. Headers covered in rust almost from top to bottom now. Muffler looks like a sanford and sons special. SO there's my report. Seems to me mine was/is a lemon. Keep in mind most of these issues were in the first 3-5 months of ownership. All bikes have some issues. My 05 XB9SX has been the most reliable motorcycle I have owned by a LONG shot. That includes a Yamaha, another Buell, and two Kawasakis. If I extend my analysis to other friends bikes who I *know* the service history for, my XB has been more reliable then three hondas (all XR-650's), but not quite as good as a Suzuki SV-650 and as good as a blackbird. Other people I know with bikes don't have enough milage to compare (or I don't have comprehensive first hand knowledge of what they fixed). If you factor in "cost for a minor drop or low side", which is probably inevitable at least once for a 50,000 mile bike, my XB9SX probably pulls back out in front of the SV-650 and Blackbird. Not authoritative, but decent anecdotal first hand data. The muffler will rust. $8 for black BBQ paint and life is good again. O7 Lighting 12S, so far "0" problems, and it had been ridden for 7K miles, other than going in my second set of tires I'm extremely happy with it. | ||

I never thought I would vote for snot, yet here I am. Mark me down for SNOT! I believe that proper warm up will resolve most oil leak issues. I let mine warm for 5 minutes before I go anywhere, and it doesn't leak a drop. The rotor issues are sometimes caused by a buildup of brake pad material on the rotor. Scuff it down at every oil change with a scotch brite pad. Also, use the rear brake to hold the bike when you are stopped. This will prevent the front pads from being stationary against a hot rotor, potentially then causing the buildup issue. | ||

3,000 miles I put on my 03 XB9R, only problem was messed up rear rotor, possibly my fault for my DIY lowering kit install. Ride it man. It's American, and a Buell. it'll be realibale trust me. My buddies with their GSXRs have plenty of problems, and the few guys I know with Ducatis have constant EXPENSIVE problems. From what I've read, Buell problems are relativley cheap in the sportbike world. | ||
