I picked up a new XB12s 6 weeks ago.

I noticed a wierd thing a couple of weeks ago. They appear to be small vertical (following the flow of the pipe) deep scratches. I have never had to wipe the pipes down when I have been cleaning it because they were never dirty (the S100 spray washes it all off), so I can't have scratched them.

I am quite confident they were not there when I bought the bike, and looking at photos I have taken since buying the bike would also back that up.

The bike has never left my sight, so I can't see how anyone could have scratched them.

Could it be a fault in the metal caused by the heat / expansion?

Anyone else experienced this or heard of this happening?

It looks quite serious!

Chris

I think I know what you are talkin about.
They mandrel bend that steel so those crinkles that you see in most auto exhaust systems wont be there.
That can cause some streching which look like scratches. I had one stock header like that. I think it is one of those wierd metal properties that Stainless steel has.

Cheers spiderman,

Is it just a cosmetic problem or do I need to get them changed?

Sounds very much like somthing I heard about on a blokes 12 here in the UK. I think he's getting it done under the warranty.

Good try though Grufflie!

Yep - Hoping it should get it sorted under warranty, but get the feeling that I will need to prove it is more than just cosmetic. So it's sounding less promising.
