147db
well you may be right at 50cm. heck they do regulate you all heavely don't they.

man that is strict. I think here in america and how it is measured the V&H comes in somewhere in the high 70's low 80's. Thats why I questioned.

Man I would never last in ITALY all tho I would love to try one day. You have great roads over there.

My old VTX w/ V&H big shots w/ baffles in hit over 120..db that is ...so I see it possible there is another guy here in town that I can hear him about 1/2 to 3/4 miles away on his VTX and I know his is louder than mine was

To be honest I think the "Race" kit sounds too loud to me sometimes. I can't wait to hear the Drummer in person (when I come up to pick up my new seat?).

No way in hell is any street bike running 147 dbs. A jet at 25 meters is 150. You gonna tell me that frickin bike is almost as loud as a jet? I have been right next to jet powered funny cars & you cant even hear yourself think. Christ a full blown 1550 cc HD thats cammed & has drags on might..& thats a big might..hit 120 dbs.

I used to have a set of Cerwin Vega speakers with a 15" woofer in each and two 5" midranges in each and were rated to something ridiculous like 400 watts, and their manual said at full blast the could hit 127db, which considering the decibal scale isn't linear 147db would be like 100 times louder than them.

My Explorer, when I had it set up for competition, the highest I hit was 149.8 with 2-15 inchers. And I was sittin in the seat happy as hell!

But yes it was loud. (didnt mean to hijack the thread)

Craig that would be imposible.I also used to get into equipment in cars and was entered in 3 contest's.I ran 16 speakers including 2 pro 15's in the back and 4 punch 150 amps and 3 punch 75's.When they tested for what the system alone would put out in BASS I was looking around 102 db.Now at the same contest the Rockford Fosgate rep. was there and tested the factory car with 2 power 1000 amps and that wouldn't pull 149.8 DB, more like 135db and that was so loud that it hurt. Its easy to get 100db out of 3-4 grand but to get 130- 150 your talking 10- 12 easy and that was some time ago for me.

Tested at a IASCA sanctioned event. On the IASCA meter. 2 Orion XTR3 15's, one Orion HCCA 225R amp pushin, with a HO alternator & 1 Farad Power Cap.

149.8 db

(I'll have to look to see if I can find the test sheet)

for each increment of one (1) decibel, I think the sound pressure increases x 4 or something like that... I might have been hungover or something the last time I went over it.

147db would definately be dangerously loud.

decibel readings are logarythmic, the climb from 90db to 91 db's is smaller then the climb from 91dbs to 92dbs.

Dana...Oh man, running the bike in the living room with all the windows and doors open and no earplugs looks like it took a toll on you, buddy. Get well soon!

PS: How's Andrea doing with the air freshener? Did she get the smell out yet? LMAO
