Just got back from the International Motorcycle Show and had a blast. We spent most of the day test riding bikes, or at least waiting to.

First ride was the new Muscle Rod by HD. Never rode a V-Rod before. The power didn't kick in 'til around 3500 and then it was time to hold on. Otherwise, it was a bit lacking for me. Looks great though.

Second ride was the 1125CR. That was a kick to ride. I'd have to put Helibars on it or the Lightning bars on it. Still too forward for me. The front wheel came up smooth and without help from the clutch or bouncing the suspension. Buell was par for the course on staying with the demo group. It was nice, but I still love my 12R.

Third ride was the new XR1200. That was a FUN bike! Very predictable and lots of room to shift your weight for the twisties. Oh, BTW, the HD folks gave you the once over as far as what to expect on the bikes and then let you go out on your own on a specified route (which I got lost and was out a little bit longer.) That was rockin'!

Fourth ride was a KTM 990 SuperDuke. WOW!! Awesome handling, motor, gearing, and tranny. The throttle took some getting used to at low speed as it was very sensitive. I about snapped my neck several times. If I had ridden that bike before my 12R, I probably would never had gotten a Buell. But, I love my bike and the low maintenance factor is huge for me. Plus, the cash that I keep in my pocket right off the bat for those orange and black gems and the maintenance for them.

Last demo was the XR1200 again. But this time, I went on my own "customized" route which took me and a buddy through more and tighter twisties. I wrung it out a bit but safely within limits. Power delivery and tranny were similar to my XB with just a hint of lag in the power department. I'd add it to my stable, but wouldn't trade my 12 for it.

Sorry, no pics. I brought my camera, but I was too into the demo experience and forgot to take some.

BTW, Buell gave out T-shirts (they were okay) and drinking glasses with the logo on them and hash marks on the side with the cc #'s on the side starting with the 500 towards the bottom and working up the glass with the 9, 12, and 1125 motors being represented. I was able to get an extra one which might go on eBay soon.

Just an FYI.

Merry Christmas to all.

Don't put it on ebay. Just PM me when you want to get rid of it.

At least you got test rides at your IMS. At the Dallas/Ft.Worth show last month, we didn't get jack sh*t. The XR1200 hadn't been announced, BMW, Triumph, etc. were no-shows and there were no test rides. The highlight of the show for me was checking out all the bikes in the parking lot.

I've been to the last 4 D/FW IMS shows and every year they seem to scale back just a little bit more. The only way I would go again next year would be if they offered test rides and since the show is held in either downtown Ft.Worth or downtown Dallas, I don't see that happening.

I live in Kansas city but grew up in Novi Michigan. I was smiling from ear-to-ear when I saw their gonna have one of the shows there when I'm back home for the holidays! Too bad there's far too much snow on the ground(14" in 3 days) for test ride. But I'm still happy as sh*t I get to go! Can't wait to see what's gonna be out this year from everybody.

I drove 150 mile's just to get my free shirt. 'Free' not really. $10,500 to get the key, then gas to get there, then parking. Then the price to get in. 'Free'it wasn't, but what a good time my family and I had. Even saw a 'Badweber' there....

I'll be at the NYC show working my buds stand all three days. The stand is "TT-Cycle" and it is old Triumphs both restored and chopped. I'll be the only one there with a pink Buell hat on.
