I know that there are a lot of box topics open right now but I am not finding what I am looking for. Has anyone "chopped up" a 12 box? I see them being put on 9's all over and replacing chopped 9 boxes but I have not been able to find any results with a chopped 12 box ..I know someone will have something..  | ||

spyder I only know of one guy that chopped the 12 box, his butt dyno told him it did not work as well so he bouhgt another 12 box and put it back on. I have seen no dyno test tho. the difference in the 2 boxes proves that velocity is sometimes as important as volume. | ||

I knew I could count on you for a response thanks man ...I would like to see some dyno's of a lot of things ...but the reason I was asking I have a 12 and am thinking on getting this velocity stack every one is speaking of and I was wondering how a moded 12 box might work with the alu stack you know what I mean | ||

i will have the velocity stack soon for testing purposes and then you'll know. so hold off on that for a week or so | ||

Spyder, Im the one with chopped up 12 box(large holes all the way around the box). I cannot detect any gain in power(butt dyno),but it proubly is as good as the stock 12 box.It's just so damn noisy for no gain that I took it off.However I do see Brian on occassion and if he wants to test it,fine with me..........Later Charlie PS Sorry Brian I couldn't resist. | ||

spyder the mechanics are the smae mostly. pressurized plenum area means something also. I wish some one would test it tho | ||

I put a stock uncut 12 box on my9r, made a "feelable" difference. Well worth the $. Got the box, K&N filter all from Brian (thanks Bud), and took the snorkle. | ||

I concur with Fatpony about the "feelable" difference; that with an otherwise stock XB9 motor. Please elaborate on how removing the snorkle changes the amount or direction field of the incoming air.  | ||

Please elaborate on how removing the snorkle changes the amount or direction field of the incoming air. It's the amount of air coming in that changes. Once you've taken out the snorkle the air passage is much bigger, therefore more air gets in. You don't have to cut anything, or undo any screws, just pull it out. If you don't like the result, simply put it back. | ||

spyder As I said before the mechanics are the same basically. but until you or someone else does it know one will know. the box top is 30 some bucks. do your and see if it don't work its not and expensive test. | ||

Has anyone done any real-world tests on how installing a K&N air cleaner improves/affects the amount of incoming air on the XB? My stock filter (see above photo) is still very clean after 1 yr and 5,000 miles. | ||

What I noticed on taking out the snorkel was a decrease on low end torque and a increase in 5K RPM HP. This was a butt dyno. What I noticed on taking out the snorkel was a decrease on low end torque and a increase in 5K+ RPM HP. This was a butt dyno. The last ¼ turn of throttle was flat. My butt dyno feels like I should put the snorkel back in for the lower increase of torque the snorkel produces. |
