While doing all the work yesterday I was looking at the tail section. I was wondering how difficult it would be to adapt the undertray to work with the "R" tail section so I wouldn't have to move any of the electronics. I really got to thinking about it when I went to put the tailbags I have back on and how much of a pain it is. They would work alot better with the seat system of the "R" rather then the "S"...

So I guess what I am asking...Brian or Dave? can you guys price out the tail section minus the undertray? lets say touring pillion seat, touring rider seat, subframe, seatlock system, taillight, and of course the tailsection bodywork. Black of course if you need color info :D Its a no rush deal since I am broke til the new year now but it would give me an idea of what I am looking at in parts. Thanks

I also would like to know if this would work, Since I put the Firebolt front fairing and handle bars on My "S"... I Don't think the "R" tail section would hold all the electronics the "S" tail section holds now. After adding the Rear seat cowl from American Sport Bike, it looks similar to the "R", just a bit shorter.

GONE: rear of your lightning looks real nice. question: do you get a lot of wheel spray, and a muddy stripe up your backside when riding in the wet? i am always amazed at the huge heap of crap, mud, stones, etc heaped on the cheese grater after a short putt.

Yes it makes a mess if the street is wet. One day I went down a road that had wet mud where dump trucks had been pulling out of a build site and when I got home, my bike was muddy from head to toe. the front fender doesn't offer much protection either.

wyked
I'll get ya a price but I don't think it would work with out a lot of work. and somethig to think about is this. the under tray for the r's hold the taillight and the s's hold the tail light in the cheese grater rear . so if you don't go with the under tray of the r what will you do with the tail light because to make the tail section of the r work you also need the sub frame.
almost for got the under trasy for the r's also hold the license braket and the turnsignals.

so I will look at the parts for ya and get back to you

That was why I said modify :D I was looking at the custom catseye tailight I have for my classic honda and figured I could adapt it real easy to work with the R tail assembly.

wyked heres your request...hold on to your hat it ain't cheap

for everything you ask for and then some stuff such as hardware and such. the seat locks have the same part number so what you needed was the seat latch cable and latch.

for everything you need
$993
bad web price
$893.70

sub frame ain't cheap and neither are the seats

if you went with stock 12 seats and pillion cover you could save about $130 .

anyways there ya go.

I could get these for ya you know

Gonen60 just point to the tailsection of a 'bolt and tell her "see that comfy seat? see this uncomfy seat? (pointing to you "S";) Its only $893 for you to have that on here"
