Replacing my Cam Cover/Oil Drive Gear/Header over break. I'm traveling to Ohio to do this (3 hrs). I was wondering if this was all the gaskets I needed:

Rocker Gasket Inner & Lower (L&R)
Push Rod Cover Gasket (L&R)
O-Rings (Push Rod L&R)
Gear Cover Gasket & Seal

I do not see the part numbers in the service manual (where am I missing them?) If anyone has done this work I would greatly appreciate your input with any advice. Thanks!

i've never done this job (yet) but i believe your on the right track. you wont find parts in the regular service manual but you will in the parts catalog. i have one for my 04 lightning. if you want the part numbers for the gaskets let me know. the gaskets in my 04 manual may have been superceded or updated so they may not be the best thing out. I dont know why you would need the pushrod gaskets or o-rings. (i havent taken an XB motor apart yet). but in general harley style. if you just want to replace the cam cover the you should be able to take the rockers off alone to unload the cams and pull the cover off only. harleys as long as you dont loosen the head bolts then the pushrods are fine. this is harley wise so i may be wrong.

If your replacing the Oil Drive Gear you'll need a locking tool for the pinion gear. Jim's tool #1665

James Gaskets makes a line of gaskets for Harley and Buell that are superior to the stock units, and cost very little more.

They have a mail order distributor that knows everything in the world about Buell gaskets.

Unlike your normal Harley dealer, he has them all in stock and can get them to you in a day or two.

Just go to their web site, give them a call and they will take care of you:

Since gaskets are so cheap to buy and expensive to install, using the best is a good idea.
