Is it possible to wire in the blinkers to stay on with the regular lights? My cruiser has this feature and I feel a little more visible.

oh you didn't just want to know if you could do it? :-p

you would need to get some dual filament signals- running light and turn lights in one. then just hook the turn signal lead to the factory turn signal wire, an hook the running light wire to an ignition switched wire so that they are always on when the ignition is on.

I gave up on modding the stock bulbs.

Pony'd up for those nice billet dual LED sets.

Don't buy them - they burn out.

I have yet to find a dual signal lamp that looks and works well. I wish you luck.

I have replacement innards for the led sigs (they are very good about customer support)
but have not yet taken the time to research an additional load resistor so that I do not
burn out the replacements... Will post up when I figure out.

Here is the thread where I modded the front lighting harness for running lights.

In the back, you just tap off the brake running light line.

I went a different route.

Instead of signal/running lights I saved up & got moto lights. (standard 35 watt bulbs)

They make me really noticeable in the day time. Since I've had them (10 almost 11 months now), not once has anyone pulled out in front of me or turned left in front of me.

They do a real decent job of lighting up the road at night too and I don't worry about blinding oncoming traffic because the 35 watt bulbs arn't overkill.

The cost nearly killed me (ate Top rammen & mac&cheese for months to make up the cost) but I figured my safety was worth it.

Thanks guys. Those moto lights don't look too bad. I'll look into those. My concern is also enough light around back besides the one small tail light. If I could find some red LED's and wire them into the tail light, that would be great.

for the rear you definitely need an led light from robert at xblights.com

the brightest thing I've ever seen in a taillight! I have a clear alternative led tail (came with the bike), and it is pathetic- def less bright that stock. I have to use a clear lense just for it to be noticeable. I have a buddy with one of roberts lights and it is sick. its high on my list of winter mods!

An easy way to get the turn signals to illuminate at all 4 corners is to use the Kisan Turn Signal Canceller. It has an option to run the turn signals at reduced brightness, and can even have the rear turn signals wired into the brake lights.
The turn signal are dim enough in the daylight that they don't jump out at you, but at night are clearly visible.

See http://www.americansportbike.com/shoponline/ccp0-p rodshow/16052.html

It's pretty much plug and play, replaces the stock flasher.

"for 109 a pop, i'll wire it up myself, and mind the blinkers... but i'm a cheap azz"

Yeah but you'd easily spend $109 on 4 dual-element turn signals that are worth owning, plus this allows you to keep the stock look, if that's what you're into. And probably a 2 minute install....cool.
